Apart from seeing the condors at Cruz del Condor , the scenery of the Colca Canyon (at 3400m the second deepest canyon in the world) is absolutely magnificent . To see an erupting volcano was another incredible sight. Certainly worth a visit

The approach road from Arequipa is impressive itself, as are the ancient terraces which can be seen on both sides of the canyon. However, visitors should keep their fingers crosses that the condors are in flight on the early morning thermals. They are a wonderful...More

Stunning Scenery on the route up to Condor Cross. Nothing at first then the sun came out and with the sun the Condors - loads of them. I am not a particularly wildlife type person but this was stunning and a real highlight of our...More

The Colca Canyon, is a canyon that's deeper than the Grand Canyon, but is lacking the beautiful colors. However the views are fantastic and you can see the vulcanos from different angles. When we were there one of the vulcanos erupted and that was an...More

Our primary trip here was to see the canyon and condors on a 2 day/1night tour. But we didn't hike or trek the canyon. We arrived on a chilly clear morning and walked through a lovely meadow of lavender and wild flowers in bloom. The...More

Instead of going with a tour, we did a 3 day trek ourselves and it was easy and we got to stay away from the busy parts of the trails. Get to Cabanaconde and all of the informal you need about trekking alone is there....More

We were a little hesitant to visit this area of Peru, but so glad we did. We are not avid hikers but there was so much more to take in that did not require a lot of hard hiking. If you are into hiking this...More

Some people talk about doing a 2 day trip to the canyon but not hiking. My wife and I are very interested in visiting and seeing the canyon but neither of us can really hike, she has asthma and I have arthritis in my hip. Can anyone recommend a trip we could do or a good company. We are currently in Arequipa but can obviously move to another location like Chivay if that is a better starting point. Thanks!!!

We did a one day trip of the colca Canyon with Anywhere Peru. It was excellent. The early morning departure (3.30 am) from our hotel in a private van was worth it. We had to reach the Condor cross by 8 am to see the condors... More
