We loved this activity, beginning with the market tour which we absolutely recommend. Cooking in the open patio was delightful and the food was great.

You got the right description. Authentic. This activity was started by me as owner of Casa de Avila Hostel. Guests watched me preparing lunch and asked to participate. And the Peruvian Cooking Experiece started. Now Lady and Anjulie help with the group and they are great directing the group. Its not a cooking class, its a souvenir we want you... More

Lady is great. She is part of our staff in Casa de Avila Hostel and in charge of the cooking activity morning time. Anjulie is in charge of the afternoon group. Two groups daily. Registration can be done on line, calling or walk in with at least 12 hours in advance. Casa de Avila guests get a substantial discount which... More

I had a lovely time at lunch learning to cook Peruvian seafood. We learned techniques and recipes and everyone made their own dishes. We sampled the chef dish as well to see how we stacked up. It was a lot of fun, our chef was very funny and also made sure everyone learned some Spanish along the way. The only.thing... More

Thank you for enjoying the experience. Sorry the menu issue was not clear. We have three menus to select BEFORE a group is opened. When the first person registers for the activity, lets say Monday morning, he is entitled to select the menu. Then, the rest of the registratn will have to take that menu. On line form accepts selection... More

Cooking class is one of our finest activities in Casa de Avila. And a great way to learn about our culture. Don't forget to leave your mail in order to send you news and recipes. Did you take the market tour? It goes before the cooking activity and is really fun and educative. We have two activities per day, morning... More

We did the fish menu (which included ceviche, pescado a lo macho and a bonus of quinoa pudding) plus the pisco sour class. Our teacher was Lady, who was really funny and taught us a lot. There are some ingredients which are harder to find outside Peru, so I'm not sure how easily I can recreate the recipes. But the... More
