Fun experience
Jan 2020
Great activity for Peruvian food lovers and if you want to take a break from all the hiking and exploring. We chose the andean menu, because I love Rocoto Relleno. we were just 5 people which was a great set up. The chef and all the staff were super friendly and made us feel comfortable and showed us some good techniques. The menu is not too complicated and at the end you have a nice delicious meal

Wonderful Cooking Class!
Jan 2020 • Friends
We did the cooking class on January 28 (classic menu of lomo saltado, causa and pisco sour). The class was outdoors in a garden kitchen - great setting. The instructor, Allie, and the others in the class were all great. We had a wonderful time. This is a great way to learn some basic Peruvian dishes in a fun environment.

Great experience and good value

Loved this experience, was everything it advertised to be. Nice small group too so you didn't get lost in the crowd. We all helped prep the food and cooked in pairs. They were authentic Peruvian dishes and we're delicious.

SO MUCH FUN!
Sep 2019 • Couples
We had a fabulous time at our Peruvian cooking class. We stayed at Casa de Avila for two nights and were so happy to be able to book a class. Monica(?) was a fantastic teacher and made all of us very comfortable while integrating us into the food preparation. Everyone took part and contributed to the meal. We opted for the Pisco Sour instructional class following dinner which finished off the evening perfectly. One suggestion would be to make all participants aware that beer and wine are available during the class. We highly recommend Casa de Avila and the cooking class!!!

Great experience
Jul 2019 • Couples
Great experience: from the cook, who not only supervised us in how to cook traditional peruvian food (which we enjoyed after the course), but also gave us interesting insights on Arequipa's and Peru's history, facts about the ingredients we were using, travel advice for Peru etc; to the beautiful location; up to the food we were cooking - many thanks!

That's the experience we provide. One where being food important, we think meeting people is the most. No, we are not chefs, meaning experts teaching recipes. We are Peruvian proud of our culture who are willing to share it and to learn from your culture too. Thanks for the visit!

Really interesting experience, informative and delicious
Jul 2019 • Friends
Our group did the "Traditional" menu which is the one most easily replicated back home (causa and lomo saltado). The class was very interesting, we learned a bit of history mixed in with some cooking technique. Very informative and engaging... plus it was really good! A nice way to spend a couple of hours during your visit to Arequipa.

And you are ready to organize a Causaparty with your friends!i Thank you for being with us in Casa de Avila Hotel. Hope next time as guests. Peruvian cuisine is supported in history. And many recipes need the background to understand preparation. We do our best to direct you on preparing your own food Peruvian style. No chef preparing your food. And usually, everybody finishes having a delicious meal. The miracle: care, love and good vibes all over the activity! Thanks again

So fun!!!
Jul 2019 • Family
Our family of four had so much fun at this class! We cooked and then ate a three course meal - our class was the “traditional” one. My 12 year old had a little trouble with the peeling of the tomatoes but otherwise the class was well within his capabilities. He especially liked the cooking over the open flame and setting the meat on fire...although mom did that part, he still liked watching! My 20 year old is a vegetarian and they accommodated him very kindly with soy meat. The class ran 2.5+ hours so keep that in mind if you have somewhere to be. Highly recommend this experience!

Casa de Avila Hotel decided the Peruvian Cooking Experience as a family and friends activity. For Peruvians, cooking represents the core of family relation. We were very happy to have your family with us. Hope you can repeat any of those recipes back home. Especially The Causa Party! Send some pictures, ok? During the afternoon group, we might extend the experience a little. Especially when everybody is having so much fun. But morning group usually goes for two hours. Remember, if you book with Casa de Avila Hotel you have a special price for the cooking and enjoy some other experiences the facility provides, like a buffet breakfast with local ingredients.
