Not as amazing as the Galapagos but very close. The river dolphins are lovely and playful. Yes, there are touristy stuff like fishing for piranhas but all in good fun. Love the night safari though it was so dark we could hardly see anything. We were on the Amazon Discovery which has security guards now after the July robbery.

We booked our Peruvian vacation through Rainforest Cruises and it was spectacular! We worked with Jeremy Clubb and he helped to craft an incredible 2 week vacation. We began our vacation cruising down the Amazon River on the new boat: Amazon Discovery. This boat is deluxe! The boat crew were outstanding, the four course meals were incredible (you won't go... I have been down the Amazon in Ecuador and wanted to do so in Peru. I took a trip on the Armitista for 7 days. I fished for Piranha and ate it, saw pink dolphins, bird watched to my hearts content and loved a full 7 days on this boat. The food was great and the guides and fellow passengers... More

We completely agree with the one star review previously posted. We travelled as a family and we were extremely bored. Day 1 is wasted in transfers and an underwhelming visit to Iquitos. Days 2 and 3 the guides take you out on boats to look for animals...and you really have to look, because there aren't very many. We got so... More

NO SECURITY! My family were aboard the Delfin Amazon Discovery when pirates boarded the first night as we slept and robbed us each in our cabins at gunpoint. Although this boat is billed as the newest boat on the Amazon, it was not properly equipped for safety. After departure, we were told there is NO WIFI and NO KEYS to... More

Do not go on the Amazon river without top notch security and green touristica patrol boat as an escort! Just got back from Iquitos, Amazon Peru river cruise on Amazon Discovery where there was zero security and we were hijacked at gunpoint by Amazon river pirates on the first night of our cruise while we were tied up to shore... This was very different to our usual European holidays and a bit daunting but one of the most interesting and unusual trips we've done. I have to start by saying that our tour guides were exceptional. Not only were they knowledgeable in plants and wildlife in perfect English, they were witty, funny, entertaining and the life of the party. This... More

For a first class experience of the Reserva Pacaya Samiria, and also the Amazon near Iquitos and the various black water rivers and creeks near Nauta, the MV Aria can't be beaten. Firstly, the quality of the guides was outstanding. We saw a truly amazing variety and density of wildlife in the area, and the guides were very knowledgeable about... More

Do not believe the negative review of the ship, its crew or IE. My sister is a Marine Engineer and she saw no safety issues at all, we felt very safe and there was no indication that there had been any problem. Problems occur any where you go and we felt more afraid on a Carnival cruise ship we took... More

Great sightseeing with phenomenal guides. Service could not be better. The vast amount of wildlife and an opportunity to see it up close and interact with the natives who live along the river was unforgettable. To do all this in a luxurious ship with great local food was exceptional. Did I mention we had an opportunity to swim in the... More
