I got help from a volunteer who showed me through and advised me on what to do for my orchid. He was helpful. Many orchids to see.

Out of the way, on a campus of the University, kind of hard to find. But home to some of the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen. Spent about 45 minutes there, walking through the greenhouse. A worker/volunteer pointed out some of the more interesting blooms. With the walk there, it was a great way to spend a couple of hours.

The Orquideario at the University of Cuenca is hard to find, it's in a few buildings past the archery range. We took bus number 3 from downtown Cuenca, off at Hotel Oro Verde. Walk towards the river, cross the bridge, big construction zone at the moment. Very inexpensive and well worth the visit, $1 per person with a spanish speaking guide. Even if it was in the low season for orchids (best months are May and November) we still saw about 50 different flowers. Took tons of pictures.

We went for a long walk to the Orquideario, aiming to arrive at 2.30, well within opening times. However, there was no one there and everything was locked up tight. We found a student in a nearby building who tried to find someone to let us in but no luck. Very disappointing.
