This is a must-see when you’re in Cuenca. Make sure to take the stairs up to the top of the cathedral for a nominal charge.

Be careful of your timing. It’s closed sometimes and also has mass which shouldn’t be disturbed although you are welcome to attend.

You will spend some time looking at all the details since you do not expect this luxurious interior.

Large, fairly new cathedral built around the late 1800’s hence commonly referred to by locals as the new cathedral. Its blue Byzantine domes prominently against the blue sky on a sunny day. The large ornately decorated doors, particularly on the side, have dramatic carvings. Perhaps...More

Absolutely stunning piece of architecture as many cathedrals tend to be. From the outside you have the iconic three blue domes but on the inside the true size and scope of the building is revealed. I've seen it a couple of times but the golden...More

Wonderful architecture, beautiful inertial, located in the center of Cuenca. A very nice place to visit. Also check the Old Cathedral that is a museum now and holds wonderful concerts.

Really large and spectacular church! Stopping in to admire the art and architecture is a must while in Cuenca. A very European feel in the middle of South America, which given the history, makes sense. I hope to come back!

Among many beautiful churches found around Cuenca. What sets this one apart is its location, size, active congregants, design history and the view from upstairs. Definitely worth a 20-30 minute visit.

Wow oh Wow! What a beautiful church, both inside and out. Pictures do not do this church justice. You will just have to check it out for yourself!!! Stained glasses windows were outstanding!!
