We also did the gastronomy tour with Efrain and Patricio on Sept 22nd. It was a very interesting Day. We had pretty much the same schedule as the previous post, however, for lunch at Corvel, we had Potatoe soup, langostines and Filet Mignon all done in Ecuadorian style. Had to roll out we were so stuffed. If you like to... More

We did the gastronomy tour with Efrain and Patricio and it was really enjoyable. Food was the theme, but we learned so much about Ecuador in general. Efrain was personable and really interesting to talk to, and speaks English fluently. We were picked up punctually outside our apartment, and while chatting, driven to our first foodie stop - corn tortillas.... More

So we booked Efrain for the Inga Pirca ruins tour. Efrain actually seemed a little grumpy when he picked us up--I'm going to put it down to the fact that he had just returned from another long tour and was tired. He got much more pleasant as the day progressed. And he was very, very knowledgeable about the ruins. The... More

I would like to be able to write a review regarding a trip to the jungle with Mio Tours however one week before we were to leave, Ephrain contacted us to say that the trip was cancelled due to failure of the people he had scheduled to guide us had gone out of business. I asked for a return of... More

Let me start off by saying I wish more than anything I could write a positive review. Unfortunately I cannot justify that. I originally contacted Mio Tours in December of 2013, provided dates of travel and the purpose of my trip which was sightseeing and area research. I had wanted to see as many attractions as possible as well look... More

Efrain was the most perfect guide who kept my husband and I entertained for an entire day while he educated us on Ecuador's history in his excellent English and such fun humor! This is our second tour with Efrain since we had such a great time with him on the food and cooking tour previously. It was just the three... More

Growing up in the Seattle area I developed a love of volcanoes so when my wife and I arrived in Cuenca I couldn't wait to investigate the 16 volcanoes in Ecuador. When Tungurahua erupted I had to see it for myself! We contacted Mio tours and made arrangements for a tour to the volcano. Efrain Arevalo, our tour guide, graciously... More

Our MIO tour started at a roadside stand making traditional Ecuadorian corn tortillas and ended in an elegant Paute restaurant with the excitement of a banana flambé. Throughout the tour our guides, Efrain, of Mio Tours, and Patricio, chef/owner of Corvel Restaurant, demonstrated how melding the old traditions with modern ways make a vibrant, and delicious, culture. Now a little... More

We spent two days with the famous Efrain privately touring the Cuenca area and I must say he was one of the best tour guides in all of our travels. An Ecuadorian, from Cuenca, and having lived in the States for 25 years, he is accustomed to the needs and desires from us Americans. His English is excellent and he... More
