A nice park for locals

This park offers everything one needs to get some air in a busy city and get some workout in. For tourists there are more interesting parks with better views of Quito.

Parque La Carolina is a green space of public character in the city of Quito, capital of the Republic of Ecuador. It is located in the Iñaquito area, in the financial and business heart of the city and is one of the most important recreational areas of the metropolitan area. The Carolina is the second largest park in Quito, its... More

Such a brilliant park in the middle of the city. There is a running track, outdoor gym like equipment, toilets, skate park, food vendors, botanical gardens and plenty more. Busy at the weekends but a lot quieter mid week. Definitely worth a visit. We spent a lot longer here than we thought.

Nice for an early run or walk before exploring the city if your hotel is nearby. Not crowded on weekdays at day time. Not sure about night time.On weekends especially Sundays there's a lot of activities, food stalls etc. on the south side near the Botanical Garden. It has a nice view of Pinchincha Volcano. Ave Amazonas on the west,... More

This park has a really lovely botanical garden worth visiting - however, the very park can be very crowded on the weekends (which is when I left) so it's not exactly the most peaceful place in Quito. I still enjoyed sitting around, reading, an observing the environment.

The park is large and many locals visit it during the weekend. There are food stalls, a lake with boats, and many playgrounds. But there isn't really much to do, and even people watching isn't that interesting - just a typical city park.

If you're looking for a tourist activity place this might not be your first option. A good place for a run or walk, but not for much more. The botanical garden is nice, but not that interesting as well.

The botanic garden area is a reasonable size for an hour or so visit. The trip may take longer if you participate in the guided tour and staged amphibian areas. Nice for children. We were pressed for time so we focused mainly on the plantings and the green house. A little better plant identification would be helpful as tropical plants... More

Visited the botanical gardens located here, and ended up walking the entire park, just checking out the stunning range of activities supported here. A gigantic skate park, BMX course, basketball, volleyball and soccer fields, along with fountains, statues, Pinguino ice cream vendors, and a solid security presence made for a safe and fun visit. Other, less developed parks could take... More
