We rode the train as part of a private tour....an engineering feat and a fun excursion. You see the countryside, enjoy the views, and marvel at the 45-degree zigzag descent. The town of Alausi is charming. A local cultural show displays dances, dress, and music.

We travelled from Quito to El Boliche. The weather was good so excellent views of volcanoes all the way. Great to travel with local families not just tour groups. Had lunch at Machachi station which was plain but well cooked food. Commentar6 useful.
