We did the Tren de los Volcanos and the train ride was OK but not as good as others such as the Devils Nose Train. It costs US$50.40 each. The train leaves at 8.00am and first stop is Boliche for some snacks (that you have to buy), some folk dancing and a walk through a forest. Then it's on to... More

A fascinating different way to experience Ecuador. Not cheap at about $1650 US per person (double occupancy) but a great experience. Last time we did inland Ecuador we did it on buses with G Adventures and that was great and very close to the people. This was a luxurious experience and very relaxing way to the Andean section of the... More

The Good: 1) wagons are clean and with good visibility (clean bathrooms) 2) personnel and guides are very friendly 3) the route and scenary is superb 4) Activities are ok 5) stations on the road are clean (same as bathrooms) What they need to improve 1) offer breakfast in the... We caught a very slow train out of Quito, taking over an hour to get out of the very deprived and depressing townships, then into the country with views of the avenue of volcanoes, which were glorious. Trip included an enjoyable lunch and walk overlooking Cotapaxi volcanoes and surrounding country. Limited translation by guides on train and sometimes difficult to... More

The four day trip from Quito to Guayaquil provided us a smorgasbord of the Ecuadorian culture, people and countryside. As part of the trip we experienced a variety of Ecuadorian cuisine, visited several craftsmen at work, viewed an amazing variety of terrains, listened to some wonderful indigenous music, and of course met the last ice merchant of Ecuador. This was... More

We started in Guayaquil and took a bus to Duran to start the four day trip. This is a well organized trip along the Andes. You overnight in various hotels and visit ranches, markets, museums, and meet a lot of locals. The train is comfortable and has a friendly staff that serves meals, beverages, and snacks. I highly recommend this... More

We did the day trip from Quito that toured the Avenue of the Volcanoes and it was great! The day itself was extremely well-planned with a ton of very authentic cultural experiences (which included a visit to a local ranch, a dance performance by women from a small village, and lots of local food stops). We had no idea the... More
