This building houses the municipal library. It has a public bathroom that is clean and costs 10 cents, 15 cents if you want toilet paper. The exhibit I saw was very popular and showed painted statues of women from all around Ecuador. A famous female artist created them to show what the actual life of women in different areas and... We were delighted to find mannequins of women in different working guises dotted around a beautiful courtyard. On the way out we were engrossed in the art exhibition being held in the entrance hall.

We were looking for someplace else and walked in by accident... what a wonderful mistake. We stayed for several hours going in and out of all the rooms with exhibits. It is a beautiful facility with lots of diverse exhibits.

I would not have thought that this place was anything special except for the fact that it was part of both guided tours that we took in Quito. Perhaps it is because of its world heritage site honour, or it may be for the historical artifacts that it houses, which we did not see on our tours. No doubt, proximity... More

Take the stairs all the way to the top. Hardly anyone is up there and you get amazing views over the city. A great place to take photos from and spend some quiet time.

This place likely has much more than I have ever seen. Free art exhibitions, free photography displays, and free concerts. This year we were there for Yavirac in the concert hall. Further down the great hallways is a library I only viewed through the windows on my way to an inner courtyard. Ancient printing presses and related bronze statues here.... More

We stopped in here for a moment in our short visit to the Old Town. Only a few galleries were open, but the art was great. I actually took the time to observe the work - they were beautiful. There was an open exhibition area with large photographs of cultural events from the present day and the past - it... More

This museum houses a large collection of artwork on two levels, plus a courtyard with visiting exhibits (photography both times I've been here, and exceptional!). There are also small performance spaces that host free concerts and events. Can't beat that! Stop by on a Sunday afternoon, when the streets outside are closed to traffic and filled with musicians, dancers and... More

When we went the entire upper gallery was closed but you could still enjoy the roof top terrace. The art work was interesting, many temporary displays that were very unique. It was free and not far from the basilica, or a $2 cab ride from around Mariscal Foch.
