good views from here

An interesting spot on top of a hill with a windy road up to it. Some good views of the city and surroundings from there. Loved it.

We went up by foot and despite of most comments, it was a quite safe. We did in the morning and it was a lot of workers and students passing by so it was not dangerous at all. There's few signs on the "trail" but it was not difficult to figure out how to get there. Pretty good view of... More

This was a high lite on our Quito day tour with Cristian, it was a clear day and you could easily pick out the old town with its roof tiles and narrow streets to the modern city with high rise and wider streets, many churches through out the old town.

We went up the Panecillo Hill as part of Hop On Hop Off Turistik Bus route. Although the Statue of the Virgin has some history, we were more interested of the 360 degree view of the city of Quito. Don't miss this place when you are in Quito. There are some souvenir shops below the statue but vendors are not... More

This huge statue dominates the city of Quito and from a distance looks quite nice. Close up, I found it to be extremely ugly and unattractive but it is interesting to go inside and learn about the construction of it and of course, the symbolic gestures within the statue itself. I suppose its a must see if you're visiting Quito!

We walked from the Historic Center to the Panecillo. It took us about 20 minutes to get up the hill. Make sure you wear lots of sunscreen! We weren't to taken aback by the statue, but the views make this a 4/5. Beautiful cityscape of Quito!

Yes should go. Drive as there are a lot of muggings on the walk-dangerous. The modern statue is tall and impressive. Very good restaurant at the top. Expensive though. Great views and popular with locals as well.

Totally unique. It is huge! Great views and photo opportunities of the city and surrounds. No difficulty walking but steps up and down to different levels around the statue if one wishes to explore. There is a road around it also.

It may only look like a statue, but it is only a recent part of a bigger history, since it is a inspired by a sculpture in the Church of St. Francis. At the base, there are a dozen or so little sheds where you can buy touristy stuff, but the best use of your money is to spend the... More

What a beautiful place to get a wonderful view of the city! There are also a number of little shops and eateries along the road.
