La Merced Church (Iglesia de la Merced) is situated in an historical place and both the architectural design and the contents of the Church of La Merced are fascinating.

This is a beautiful place, and while I'm not Catholic, I felt moved. The structure is beautiful and very early in the morning the people that live here go to pray. Put some money in the donation box near the door.

Small but historical church in Old Town. Open early and free for a look around. A nice stop through as you are walking around Old Town area.

I just wandered why Catholic churches here in Quito are closed during the day. This church is not an exception - it was closed during my visit. I just took pictures outside and hope that it would finally open before I leave Quito.

This is a beautiful, functioning church. Plenty of vendors outside selling to locals and tourists alike. Good for crowd watching.
