The views from here help you to appreciate the size and spread of the city - 55km bu 8 km, it is huge. topped by a 41M tall statue of La Virgen De Quito which you can climb up for a better view.

I think the best way is to walk from Quito historic centre all the way up to the Virgen del Panecillo. I made it a small pilgrimage, beneficial both for exercise and spiritual reflection.

We took the hop on hop off bus tour and stopped at El Panecillo. You get breathtaking views of city there is a winged Virgin Mary made of aluminum at the top. Almost at ten thousand feet looking over city.
