Beautiful stay , service was amazing , food was excellent, absolutely everything was perfect! Getting there was a bit tricky as you are on very thin roads that overlook a beautiful valley. The whole experience was worth it. I would go back again and again.

The hikes around are breathtaking as a suggestion consider hiring horses to cover more ground. The fauna and bird life particularly the humming birds are really special and everywhere.

We stayed 2 nights/3 days at the Ecolodge and enjoyed the experience. Arsenio was our guide and and a phenomenal birder. Hikes in the cloud forest were easy along former roads to moderate on the Pre-Inca trails. Arsenio kept the hikes interesting as he whistled bird songs and they sang back. He explained the uses of plants along the trails.... More

I have spent my entire career in environmental conservation. First as a ranger in California, as director of California State Parks and as deputy director of the National Park Service. Maquiepucuna is the epitomy of what an ecolodge should be. It sits lightly on the land, employs local indigenous people and the food is all natural and some of the... More

If you are planning a trip to Ecuador then Maquipucuna ecolodge should be on your list of places to stay! I stayed here for 10 days on a tropical semester in 2014. I loved it so much that I had to return this time bringing my husband. The staff is so friendly and the food is amazing! This is not... More

My stay was such fun, a perfect trip for the outdoors-lovers! The food was delicious and they catered to my gluten intolerance with the greatest of ease. I was hesitant about some noodles in my soup only to realize they were rice noodles, specially prepared for me! I haven't had service that catered to my allergies like that yet, after... More

I stayed in Maquipucuna for 2 nights. The travel from Quito was organized for free.It was a great experience because of all the nature and the birds and other interesting animals. The workers there are amazing and really take care of you. The birdwatcher guide was amazing explaining me about birds. On both days in the morning we went to... More

Thank you for your review! we are happy to be able to understand and accommodate our visitors needs and preferences. We stayed at Maquipucuna for three nights recently and would have probably been happier staying two, mostly because in general we prefer more independent travel. We have some lovely memories of Maquipucuna and appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. We were disappointed by what was sometimes an inability to enjoy the sounds of the forest. Maquipucuna seems to double as... More

Thank you for your review. Up until the summer of 2015 we did have a large volunteer camp of international high school students coming to stay in the neighboring town and to work for a few days at the Reserve. We don't foresee such a large number of campers at the Reserve in the future. More

We stayed at the lodge as a couple for four days and three nights. Maquipucuna Lodge offers packages which include a guide for unlimited walks each day, all meals, a room with a private bathroom (and HOT water, a rarity in Ecuador), unlimited boiled water for drinking and the park entrance fee. It's a very good deal - if you... More

I had the chance to visit this ecological reserve and was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend for travelers who prefer nature than cityscapes. They have conserve a beautiful pristine tropical rain forest close to Quito. You have some small waterfalls where you can go swim and have some fun. perfect for bird watching.
