    Fascinating, HUGE art pieces!
What a great place for an afternoons visit. We went with an 9 and 10 year old and it was fascinating! the Huge art pieces had us all engaged. We knew nothing about the artists before our visit and learnt so much whilst we were there. The museum is filled with huge installations whilst the house contains all his personal pieces and the studio is like he has just popped out for a walk.

Don't miss it if you love art
I was so happy that the hotel I stayed at had Guayasamin's art on display! I had never heard of this artist and fell in love with his art at first sight. The hotel referred me to this foundation and my visit here was the highlight of my trip to Quito. The foundation consists of two buildings: a museum and Guayasamin's house, which is a museum in its own right. It's very well worth a visit even for those who don't love his art. A friend I was with found it rather unsettling but still thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Don't miss this important artist's work
We had thepleause to visit this museum on our recent trip to Quito. The guide was excellent, her introduction to the artist and his work was well thoughout and beautifully presented. The collection is robust and the development of the artist's work is clear to see. I particularly appriciated the visit to his studio.

    Interesting.
Beautiful place to visit. The art work is a bit on the depressive side reflecting suffering/sadness. Having been friends with communist/dictators who caused suffering to their people I can’t tell which side of the fence he leaned on. Art was beautiful though.

Great for a solo or family tour!
Stunning artwork and a very cool house museum. You enter through the gate where you pay, and they ask whether you want a tour in English or Spanish. The English-speaking guide at the house museum was phenomenal. It's a really interesting museum with hundreds of artifacts and pieces of artwork, plus you can see his studio with working artists. Then there's a separate art museum featuring Guayasamin's work -- also with English or Spanish guides. After the tour you can wander the museum. Great gift shop as well where you can purchase prints, clothing, jewelry, and other souvenirs.

    Truly unique and amazing
The ability to be so close, inside the life of a world renowned artist is very unusual and wonderful. You feel like you knew him personally, and his desire to share his art collection in such a personal way is inspirational and appreciated. The architecture of his house is spectacular and the explanation of his art collection, as well as his artwork, was completely fascinating. We also had a chocolate tasting during our visit which was very interesting and delicious.

Good visit if you like the artist but if you don't, you're in for a shocker. The guide that showed a group of us around was useless with the most basic of descriptions! I eventually had to leave the guided group and wondered off myself. For $8/person (not including the taxi to get there and back), I did leave here feeling none the wiser about what I saw and felt very much out of pocket.

We had never heard of this artist - but were fascinated to learn of his story and his artwork and the role he played in influencing Quito/Ecuador society (he was an ardent supporter of Castro in Cuba). We had the guided tour which was wonderful. We were especially fascinated by the Paco De Lucia painting and the story behind it. The paintings are wonderful, the house which is the museum is a museum in and of itself. This was not on top of our list of things to do in Quito - and should have been; I'm glad we didn't miss this.

Our visit was one of the highlights of our trip to Quito. The works of Guayasamin are evident though out the house and the magnificent studio. His prolific works are displayed both in the home and the adjacent museum. The massive scale and bold use of color is evident his works that do much to reflect the quest for social justice in Ecuador and the continent. Try to schedule a guided tour of both facilities that are available in English as specified times to get a much better understanding of the artists works and life

What a wonderful museum! We were able to take the tour in English. Very informative and the architecture is fabulous. When you pay your $10 entrance fee that includes both museums. It is kind of confusing if you aren’t aware of the 2 nd museum. One museum is his home the other museum is the large brick windowless building.
