Possibly the most beautiful church I've ever been in. Spend time and admire the art, carvings, frescos, etc. Must see!!!

Quito is full of extravagantly beautiful churches, but La Compania is in a class of its own. We are told it is specifically because of this church that Quito was named the first UNESCO world heritage site. We found the hours varied from the posted...More

Truly beautiful but costs $ 5.00. Do not expect to photo anything. The cost is worth the view and the church is truly a sight to behold. You should not miss this if you are into Catholic churches.

An incredibly ornate and beautiful cathedral. When standing in the centre of the church look back towards the staircase. Scrutinise well and try and find the anomaly. A visual illusion.

We carefully limited ourselves to just a few churches in Quito as there are so many. We went to this one because it was recommended by our driver. Its interior is a vision of gold leaf everywhere. It was a beautiful site.

This church is amazing and at first beautiful, but what does it represent? Wasteful colonialism? I was uncomfortable with the history, even while being wowed by the amazing visual impact. It is definitely worth a visit but also worth really thinking about!

The beauty of this Church is unbelievable and I concur with a previous contributor questioning why photos are not allowed. No services were in session. The gold leaf restoration after the fire (1996 ) has been painstakingly slow but it must be handled delicately and...More
