Let me start at the end. On our ninth and last day of riding in Ecuador, we were returning to Quito with several of our party concerned about making flights home. Roads were being closed ahead of us a result of torrential rains and landslides. We got an early start from our

Thank you Scott! We had such a wonderful time with you and your daughter, Melissa. You both have such great energy and it was a real pleasure to spend 9 days with you both. We have since changed our Andes, Amazon & Pacific route to take out the hotel that no longer met our standards and we know our customers will appreciate the replacement lodging which is a working dairy farm in the Andes. We'll have that new trip to Peru on our web site soon and we hope to see you both on our first ride there! It will be epic! Thank you again for this wonderful, thoughtful review.

Thanks for the review. We are glad that you found the trip to be "awesome." That is great. We beg to differ about the GPS being "outdated." This is definitely not the reason for your having trouble with navigation. Our GPS is the very latest - Garmin Zümo 595 - the top of the line GPS navigation system and the best one on the market. We update and improve the maps on a continual basis and our routes have been ridden over and over by hundreds if not thousands of riders. Back in the office, we use a tracking device to monitor our customers and we can see where they miss turns or make mistakes and we have used that information from ten years of experience to make our routes as easy to follow. If you see the comments here on TripAdvisor, most self-guided customers marvel at the accuracy and ease of following our GPS self-guided tours. Some of our technologically-challenged (boomer) customers do have some trouble if they expect a hand to come out and slap their helmet if they don't pay attention. Unfortunately, Garmin does not have that technology developed yet but when they do, we will be sure to include it! Thanks again for riding with us and we are glad that you enjoyed your trip.
