After you finally reach the summit (a taxi from the bottom of Bella Vista is needed $1.50) you gain entry by paying the fee (if you look old ask for pensioner reduced fee) Then you go into the main "temple" art museum & get a guided tour (in English) & an insight into the man himself. There is also an... More

Since I live in Quito, I have visited the Capilla del Hombre twice so far. I had not heard of Guayasamin until I came to Ecuador, but his art is truly inspiring. The museum allows you to experience both the artist and his art, from its simple beginnings and through the development of his style. His focus on the darker... More

You must check out this great location... the former home and studio of Ecuador's most famous painter. His artwork is mesmerizing, but even more so is the tour and the various artifacts, photos, and personal things which will make you fall in love with Quito, Ecuador, and Latin America as a whole. The giant gallery Hall at the end of... More

There are English-speaking guides in both the capilla (house) and the museum. They will explain some wonderful things about the life of the artist who lived and worked here, Guayasamin. The highlight for me was the video of him creating a portrait of a model in 20 minutes. Amazing!! Also guides in the museum to help explain the periods in... More

I found this place very moving. I've been fascinated by Picasso's work and I feel that Guayasamin took his influence and used it to turn his own art on the situation in Ecuador, most especially the human rights violations that were happening in his country against the indigenous. He really used his work to raise awareness of this, as well... More

It was a very impressive museum that attempts to depict humanity. A little heavy on the human suffering aspect of it, which can be a bit depressing. The tour is very much recommended, the staff does a fantastic job!

The chapel and the museum are part of house of Guayasamin, the artist, so when you by the ticket you see both places. The chapel is not really a chapel in a godly sense, it has no god in it, but man.
