This Ascensor is different to others in Valparaiso in that is actually a lift rather than a funicular. It is accessed via a tunnel that goes off the end of Almirante Simpson ( just to the NE of the trolley bus terminal)

The lift has now re-opened. It is interesting as it is the only vertical lift and it goes through a tunnel.
