If you like horseriding and nature, and after few days at Valparaiso, you need a shot of both, don't hesitate and go to Campesano for a while, it definitely worth it.
First, Kai is really helpful and will try to make you feel confident, and at least, will pick you at the closest metro station from his ranch (Puntacaña, 45mn from the center of Valpo, station Puerto sober la plaza Saltamayor).
When you finally arrived into the ranch, Kai offers you coffee to be sure that you are welcomed, and you can not do anything else than staring in front of such a view and this idyllic place : a big woodmade house, feeling peace and authenticity.
And then, let's get riding !
First of all, the horses are not so many but they are really healthy and there is a real love between staff and animals. No worries about the horses' behavior, they are sweet, even for children or inexperienced riders.
To conclude, it's a exceptionnal way to discover the landscape of this region, very close to the cordillera and with an impressive relief.
It was a real pleasure to meet them and we hope that you both succeed in keeping Campesano as we felt it : wild, connected to Chilean nature, convivial.
Anyway we wish to this "family" hapiness in their next projects.

Such an amazing experience, from start to finish. The horses are lovely and kept well and healthy.
Kai, his family and the volunteers who work on the ranch are very welcoming. They make you feel like you've known them for years. After the ride we sat talking for a couple of hours. Me and my friend enjoyed it so much we've booked to go back this week and stay for three nights.

Located at 45 mn of Valparaiso, Campesanos is a great place to escape the big city during one day. A small familiar farm, where you quickly feel like a family member. Here you can forget mass tourism!

Meet a staff member on the Sotomayor square at 09h30 and just follow.
I did horse riding and a friend choose mountain bike. We were both really happy with our activities. About 2 hours of travelling with extremely competent and nice guides.
The horses are quiet and even if you have no experience, a short lesson will help you to enjoy your ride.
After such activities, it's time for barbecue (called Asado in Chile). Quality and quantity!
Then enjoy a nap near a pool and it will already be time to leave.

We were looking for some outdoor activities near Valparaiso and found the website of Campesano. We liked the idea to get to know the Chilean countryside and meet some real huasos.
The ranch is only half an hour from Valparaiso - we got there by metro and the owner picked us up.
We absolutely loved the place and saw our daughter smiling the whole day long :)
She was allowed to feed animals, pet little newborn foals and didn´t want to leave at the end of the day.

The campesano family turned out to be really nice and welcome, they also appeared to be very enthusiastic, patient and lovely on the riding trail, the one-to-one attention was perfect.
The horses were very gentle and well-trained and we - all novice riders - were made to feel inspired with confidence to experience something new. We felt very safe and relaxed all the time. The landscape was so different from all the other areas we had seen before and it was just beautiful.

After the ride we had a fantastic barbecue with organic meat from their own production and fresh salads.

If we ever come to Chile again, we would like to stay at least one week on Campesano. We saw the holiday houses and they are awesome, with a chimney for the wintertime and a fully equipped kitchen. We loved Valparaiso, but it`s still so close to Campesano, you can do daytrips. Viña and the beaches are even closer (about 20 minutes) - and especially with children you will have a much more relaxed and peaceful time staying on the landside apart from the mass tourism.

What a fantastic and refreshing way for our family to spend time together!
Highly recommended!!!

I stayed 3 days / 2 nights on Campesano, including a full dayhorseride with bbq. I had a wonderful time and felt warmly welcomed on this beautiful spot on the countryside of Chile. The ranch is run like a family business with lovely people hosting you. Meals served are freshly prepared and delicious - also suitable for vegetarians! The place is also inhabited by lots of animals, like horses, dogs, cats, chicken and geese! One day i went on a full day horseriding trip and it was an amazing experience! I do horseriding back home too and was not sure what to expect of horse rides in Chile, but my concerns were completely needless here; the horses were really good trained, well fed and healthy, and the tour guides were extremely professional. I can recommend a stay here to everyone, nature and animal lovers, or just to have a couple of relaxing days far from big city life. ;-)

Campesano is an authentic ranch set in a beautiful location just to the south east of Villa Alemana, about 30 minutes’ drive east of Valparaiso. This is a place where for 8 days I experienced a slice of real Chilean country life. Peaceful, natural and unique, a place where I could get away from the hustle of life. The Team are excellent, friendly and fantastic riding teachers and guides. I stayed as a hostel guest and was made to feel so welcome and nothing was ever to much trouble. And the horse riding was/is FANTASTIC - I had never ridden a horse before and within minutes of starting my initial tuition I felt confident and safe. The horses are beautiful and the horse treks were brilliant, I cannot truly do justice to them by trying to describe them, let’s just they will for the right reasons, live with me forever. Every horse trek was different, exciting, adventurous and fun (Thank you Orion – my horse for all of them), and the Moonlight Trek was just so special - Thank you to the Campesano team, the dogs and especially the horses for making this a brilliant holiday - LOVED IT. If its horse trekking, or a taste of country life and some real living experiences, or all of them then this is a place I highly recommend, even if it’s just for a day trip, do it, you'll be so happy you did. If you spend a night or a couple of nights there don't expect modcon living, it is comfortable (there is a pool and Wi-Fi) but if are wanting that authentic experience, this is as good as it gets, and its bloody good. Oh and the BBQ's are truly awesome.

I work on a cruise ship and was very impressed with Kei's prompt feedback to my request to do short ride, and response in perfect English. The metro is super easy to take from the cruise terminal and he picked me up at Penablanca station. It was just the two of us on the ride and I thoroughly enjoyed the horses and tranquill surroundings. It feels like you are somewhere far from civilization, yet it is so conveniently close to Valpraiso. Definitely the best way to spend a day in Valpraiso!

Arriving in the morning we were wellcome with a cup of coffee / tea and then we left for a beautiful riding excursion in the Quebrada de Escobar. Lunch was well provided for and our camp site was well prepared. Kai, the owner, even arrived late in the afternoon, also on horseback, to see to the preparation of our barbecue. The guide was very friendly and took well care of the horses, only when it came to pauses, we had to tell him when to stop. A great trip for the whole family!

Chile is a package surprise but made all the more alluring when you include a horse riding experience on your intinerary. Campesano made this day out most memorable and really fun and enjoyable no matter what your experience level with horses is. Kai and his family treat you like theirs from the moment you book. Through arranging easy transport, to fun engaging narrative, beautiful horses and the most picturesque ride in the mountains of the Andes behind Vina del Mar.
It's a day out to remember and you or your children (I took my 13 & 18 year olds) all non horse riders along with me & hubby and we had a truly fun & memorable day. Made easy, safe and special by Campesano. Thank you Campesano for the memory.

A lovely day in the hills with very friendly and well trained horses. The instruction was perfect as none of us had experience. Finished off with a delicious barbecue lunch and swim in the pool. Very good value and highly recommended.
