One can appreciate extremely artistic and talented artwork on the sides of the streets, walkways, stairs and buildings all the way. The best way to explore this artwork in Cerro Concepcion is by walking. Certainly would very highly recommend the same to any tourist in Valparaíso.

This is a very atmospheric little street near ascensor Concepcion. Like most places in uphill Valparaiso, there is lot of street art. Here the houses are also painted in bright colours, in contrast with El plan, the flat part of the city. But here there are also many restaurants and a few shops, catering to tourists. Go walk a bit further to see less touristic Valparaiso and more great street art, which is really nearly everywhere uphill.

If you're planning on visiting Santiago, you should definitely leave some time to visit Valparaíso and walk through the beautiful city streets. This area is so vibrant, with striking, colored houses, and street art (graffiti, murals, and artistic tiling). You can get a nice view of the city from this area as well, but even on a cloudy day, the trek is worth it to wander through the colorful streets. There are also plenty of unique places to eat and have a drink, so you can really enjoy your day in Valparíso. 100% recommended.

This paseo is a beautiful collection of bright, colorful street art. I enjoyed it immensely when I visited it on a walking tour at the beginning of my visit. Later, I stumbled upon it again on my own and found it a little bit sketchy by myself. Recommend to enjoy it with a group!

This area is worth a quick walkaround after you ride the Ascensor Concepcion. There are a few nice houses and buildings, and some decent views of the city, but not the best. For the best views, head to Ascensor Artilleria.

Paseo Gervasoni is a community on the side of a hill overlooking the Port of Valparaiso. Artwork abounds on: homes, commercial buildings, and the street. It is a great place to walk and admire, but I would suggest starting at the top and working your way down as most streets are narrow and steep and some are made of cobblestone. There are sidewalks in places.

A classic spot to visit in Valpa, offers lots of graffiti`s, a relaxing walk in narrow ancient streets, and bars and restaurants for a pause. Recommended to take one of the historical lift to the top of the hill (cerro), and then walk back down. Beautiful views on the Ocean

If you have a short period to visit Valparaiso, make this one your first stop.
Yes, it is a tourist attraction, hence trimmed and painted unlike many other of Valparaiso's areas. You don't see the poverty here. Yet, it is as autentique as it gets. People still lives here, uses the centuries old elevator, and dine at its cafes.
This upscale area includes some three to four blocks, concentrating most restaurants, galleries, and cafes. Also several of the newly and best appointed boutique hotels.
Lovely views.

Walk between this 'Paseo" and Atkinson and Yugoeslavo as well. Good restaurants, bars and cafes in the area. Very nice view to the bay and port area. Cafe Turri and Pasta e Vino are a must.

Hi Erica! What tour did you take? Can you recommend a walking tour we might book? Are there any locals that do these?

I took a tour with "tours4tips", and I believe that they took us there.

Mi relato en ingles: Unfortunally, my experience in Valparaiso was very bad. My brother is living in Santiago de Chile and we decided to go to Valparaiso by ourselves. We took the Ascensor Artillería at 10:30 a.m. From there we went to the Naval and maritime museum.
Our mistake was decided to go by walk to the others turistic places.
so we started to walk and then after 15-20 minutes we were robbed violently.
2 men started to run in our direction, the biggest who was also the leader tried to take my bag and snatch my bag. I was stronger than him. So He threw me on the floor, I was immobilized with a foot and he pulled out a switchblade knife. I saw the knife close to my belly and I was ready to receive the knife. I closed my eyes and I got peed on. My brother was with the other guy who was short and thin and asked for the money/la Plata to a meter away. My brother gave the wallet with 200.000 chilean pesos and all documents and credit card. He was able to hide the I-phone 6 (the price is around 800 Eur). he didn´t tried to help me. My brother told me to stop to tighten the purse/the bag. I did it and the man took my bag which contain the samsung S3, sony zt3 waterproof, a small canon camera (value around 60 Eur) and 110.000 chilean pesos. We were on a Cerro/Hill very close to a square with a checkpoint police (carabinieros). we made the complaint of theft which took a lot of time. The police was very very lazy. Then we went to the police office by car to finish to declair. We lost all the money and we asked to the police some money to return to santiago. They gave the money and we made the transfer the following day. The police told us that Valpairaiso is getting the most dangerous city of Chile. The tourists has to go there with a Tour or if they walk alone, the have to go only in the most touristic places. Sometimes the Lanzas/thieves start to follow the tourist and await the opportunity to rob. It a pity that this beautiful city is so unsafe. The police told us that some people who comes to Valparaiso to give the recognition as a UNESCO heritage of humanity were also robbed. Be careful.

Lamento lo que les ha pasado, pero ese asalto que describen fue en otro cerro, no en paseo Gervasoni en cerro Concepcion.
