This is by far the biggest hill in Valparaiso. While it has some interesting buildings, some nice views and a huge cemetery, it can also be a dangerous place to walk in (my bag was stolen there once while I was in the street).

Ecomapu Travels, one of the smaller "free" tour companies offers a walking tour of Playa Ancha hill . It meets at Paseo 21 de Mayo at 3:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The area has some amazing architecture which is very San Francisco-like. It is worth visiting. I felt very safe in the area.

This is one of the most beautiful vantage points of the city found in one of the more established neighborhoods of Valparaiso. However, the further you go up the hill the better the views, but the more impoverished and dangerious the neighborhoods are. Take care with your personal items at this view point, but it is worth the trip!

Very picturesque neighborhood, hillside, so the square with the shops and restaurants is also on the hill. Good views. Art.

Hiked up and down this hill several times as I stayed in a hostel at the top. It is very easy to get lost, though locals are helpful. Good if you want to get an idea about how ordinary citizens of Valparaiso live. Had hoped to find a good viewpoint over the city, but did not find one. Mind the stray dogs.

This is the must visit part of the city.It has the narrow streets and lanes .Their unusual art for,s on the wall and geacades makes this area what it is.Earthy and challenging, and at the same time an accepted beauty in the difference it presents.
