Wonderful experience!! Meeting Pablo at a coffee shop and deciding on the menu. Then taking the bus to the markets to purchase all our ingredients was very fun and made it an even more personal experience. Taking the tram up to the school was very special. Pablo went into detail on how to cut & prepare our dishes and explained all the spices we used. It was really interesting. Especially for my husband who never ever cooks!! Our meal was delicious from the beginning to the end. Especially the pisco sours. His were the best we’ve had.
I would recommend this class, it was a very unique experience. If you want to experience Chilean culture this is it!!

The markets are certainly fascinating and almost all travelers really enjoy that part of the experience.

A really great day. great value for money, excellent cooking training with lots of tips and pointers on how things are done the Chilean way, plenty of food and drinks included. The trip to the markets was wonderful and something we wouldn't have done if we hadn't booked this. Highly recommend even if you have no experience with cooking.

Thanks for your review we do appreciate it and it helps other travelers too.
The markets are usually something that our guests enjoy a lot because as we are in the traditional markets every day we know the people and the interesting characters.
They also make sure we get the best produce.

A great experience with Pablo starting off with a trip to market selecting our ingredients fresh from the stalls, followed by a trip to the kitchen where all the steps were explained and we got to join the fun of the preparation. All this was followed by a marvelous Meal with some amazing Chilean wines. Pablo was an all rounder with instructions, explanations and jokes. He was defintely part of the positive experience.. Highly recommended!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I will copy it to Chef pablo:) The wines are reserve grade William Cole from Casablanca valley Chile and very well regarded having won many awards.
the sauvignon blanc has won "best white in South america" more than once and of course the carmenere is the "wine of Chile".
We wish you safe travels:)

Brilliant day cooking and learning about Chilean cuisine with Pablo. An informative visit to the markets in the morning before preparing delicious dishes.
Pisco sours and wine were also excellent accompaniments. Great value and thoroughly enjoyable day with Pablo!
Highly recommended when in Valpo.

Ines was great. The food was great. Loved shucking machas, that was a great experience. Ines knows her stuff.
The only downside was the two boring girls in the group. They seemed like they missed their husbands too much or something. Maybe Ines could start screening applicants? Solo un chiste! Pero en serio...

Having participated in many USA cooking classes, I was intrigued to take a Chilean cooking class in English. I never expected that the procurement process and meal prep would also afford me the chance to feel immersed in the city’s culture. Inez, our guide and chef, delivered an unhurried, insightful and exquisite experience that exceeded all our expectations: A combination of flawless English, Chilean ancestry and culinary skills made for one of the best tours my husband I have ever discovered on TripAdvisor!!! The experience yielded a fabulous 4-course meal including Pisco Sour and wine. FIND TIME TO TAKE THIS FABULOUS TOUR: you won’t be disappointed (but will need a nap afterwards)😊

Chilean Cuisine Cooking Class was incredible! It was an intimate (me, my partner and 2 other great people) event that started with an awesome tour of the market where we picked up fresh ingredients and learned about local food. The Chef was awesome as well - the whole day was filled with learning about chilean culture, step by step instruction on how to make the best food i had in my time in chile, and just learning about one another. We made food, laughed, drank and made some incredible connections. I can't recommend this enough.

My wife and I went to the Chilean Cooking Classes in Valparaiso as part of our recent honeymoon and would happily recommend to any travellers in the city who enjoy cooking and want to learn Chilean cooking. Andres the talented chef greeted us with a warm welcome and highlighted many of the main city highlights when walking into town to pick up ingredients. The cooking itself was wonderful with great food, Chilean music wine and of course Pisco Sours! Andres was a fantastic teacher, great to hang out with and both my wife and I felt that we were cooking with a friend. If we returned to Valparaiso, we would definitely take the class again.

Ths dishes we make were delicious and were accompanied by a few piscos and vino..... Boris is a great teacher, He´s relaxed and easy going and very knowledgeable.
The food was so asty and fresh and the views over the hills were lovely. Highly recommeneded!

We did the cooking course with Boris, in Valparaiso and couldn't recommend it highly enough! Going to the market to get all the food, preparing all the different dishes and of course having a pisco or two and some wine.... Boris is a great teacher with a very casual relaxed style. The setting is spectacular and the food we cooked was fantastic. We will definitely be making a few of the recipes when we return home. Book on and enjoy!

Thanks for your post. Here are some questions for you please:
How much does this acticvity cost?
Are there different chefs to choose from....or is it just luck of the draw?
How much time from start to finish?
I was planning to do a one day tour to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar when I am in Santiago for 2 days in October, but I love culinary experiences. Going to the market is fun (I do speak Spanish). I did a culinary tour in Lima, a cooking class and also a chocolate making class. If I go to Valparaiso on my own, would I have time to take the class and still see the city? Would I miss much not going to Vina del Mar?
I noticed there are also cooking classes in Santiago. Are you familiar with these?

Hi Linda, I did try to answer your message 29 days ago but the link on your email was incorrect. tripadvisor just told me that I havent answered so here we are.
We are in valparaiso Chile about 115kn or 65 miles from Santiago. there are many classes there but I am not familiar with them I am sorry. (all I believe copied us since we began in 2009). here are the details about our class. Many people come from santiago for a daytrip to do the class.
In the Chilean Cuisine Cooking Class you meet the chef and then work out the menu to be prepared, buy the ingredients at the local market and then prepare your meal - then you eat it of course! Your meal includes specially selected local wine and a pisco sour which we will also teach you how to prepare.
You will also prepare empanadas, pebrè, a typical Chilean salad and with the help of the chef you will also select an entrée, a main course and a dessert to prepare during your class. You will be finished at about 4-4.30pm and afterwards we will email the recipes so you can recreate the meal at home.
The Chilean Cuisine Cooking Class is a fun cultural immersion experience in an informal relaxed environment and once you have completed the class you will be ready to take part of Chile back with you to cook a genuine and tasty Chilean Cuisine meal for your family or friends.
You will also learn about our history, culture, music and what it means to be a Chileno. It costs $40.000 Chilean pesos per person and is all inclusive.
Would you like to participate? Just confirm and we will email you the meeting point details.
Any questions please just ask and thanks again for your interest.
Best regards
Martin
