Best done in the morning before the afternoon heat. Following the advice of prior reviewers I took 2L of water, some snacks, and picked up a stick on the way. Need good shoes and good balance too since the track to the top, after the fork to Little Manquehue, become quite slippery with a bit of rock climbing thrown in. The stick was very helpful on the way down.
The cross by the way is on Little Manquehue which looks an easier and much shorter ascent.

We got up early on our last day in Santiago to do this. The main access was closed, so we ubered to the end of El Golf de Manquehue (street and beautiful neighborhood) for the Los Trapenses access (easiest of the three alternate routes) and started our climb at 8:30am. It was cloudy, which was ideal. Bring sunblock otherwise. We wore sneakers, which was doable, although shoes with better treads would have been preferable. There are a couple of steep sections at the beginning and I (a 58-yr-old woman in mediocre physical shape) thought about quitting if it was going to be like this all the way up. We had no one to ask as we were the first on the mountain that day, but I'm glad we kept going, as that turned out to be the hardest part. We made it up and back in 3.5 hours. It takes the same amount of time to descend as you have to tread carefully. Due to a wide switchback, you get views on both sides of the mountain along the way, and a nice view from the top. There were many people climbing up as we descended. Nice way to get away from the main tourist areas.

A short hike (4h round trip) with really rewarding views. But please, don't be stupid and be prepared ! Its not a city walk, its hike in the mountain! Bring 2 liters of water, sunblock, good shoes, a hat, a backpack and if posible, walking sticks.

For a splendid view over the city of Santiago and its valley this hike of 4 hours is a must. We started from lo Barnechea early in the morning. The walk is not too hard but wear shoes with a good profile, some sections are steep and slippery especially on the way down it can be tricky. Take enough liquid and sunblock with you. When you reach the summit the 360 degree view is amazing. A few days before we went up the torre de Santiago, you also get a great view but this one is more rewarding and cost nothing else than physical effort. A must do when you want to flee the hot and smoggy city.

It's a steep hike to the top of Manquehue, the track is unstable in many places, you need good shoes and walking poles for the way down. There is no shade whatsoever so better do this in cooler weather. The views are great as you are above the Santiago smog, you can see the 6,000m-peaks of the Andes. Also condors are flying around the mountain. It's a great day out of the big city, the track itself is 3-4 hours in total. We started the walk from the Los Trapenses end. You can take buses to the Lo Barnechea neighbourhood (for example C14) and get off at the junction Los Trapenses with Golf de Manquehue. The track starts at the very end of Gold de Manquehue, 2km from the bus stop. Or take a cab from the closest metro station, we came from Las Condes area and the cab was less than 10,000 pesos.

This hike took about 4 hours roundtrip. The terrain was difficult in some spots - sliding gravel, vertical rocks. Because of this, good shoes and a hiking stick (or two) are good ideas. There is a lot of rough vegetation in some places that will scratch you if you don't have pants or long sleeves. Sun projection is a must too. I went through about 2 liters of water, a sandwich, two granola bars, bag of nuts and a piece of fruit. Be prepared, and enjoy the great view!

A hill located in Huechuraba is just behind parquemet, you can access to one of the entrance through parquemet path or take a bus outside metro Escuela militar and go there.
Is a good place to go and do trekking with a natural view and also to relax and release endorphins to say goodbye to the stress.

This is one of my favourite things I have done in Santiago!
If you want to get the best view of the city and the area then this is where to go!
You definitely need to be in ‘ok’ physical shape and you might need a decent morning-and-a-bit to do it, but for me it is all worth it!
My wife and I left around 9am and were back down for lunch. The infamous Santiago Smog in winter did affect the view a little so cross your fingers for a clear view!
Obviously follow all the normal rules and use common sense with the place as the weather can be changeable in winter!
Bring water!

Cerro Manquehue is located in the Northwestern part of Santiago, very close to the Cerro San Cristobal. It was 2 different points of access which are by Santa María de Manquehue in Vitacura, and by Los Trapenses in Lo Barnechea. The hiking paths are marked with signs and information so you don’t get lost. And from the base to the top its takes you about 2 hours to get there. The view from the top is quite magnificent, especially if you go on a day after it rained. The top of the hill has a metal cross where people usually put something as a reminder or gift, like hats, bracelets or a note in a piece of paper.

The opinion will be about Manquhuito hill, not the Manquhue Hill. Manquhuito Hill is a hill near by that takes less time than the tallest hill that would be Manquehue. Manquehuito seen from Vitacura will be the the second highest summit to the right. It has two ways to climb it up from Lo Curro neighborhood, a more intense one and a calmer one. A map at the beginning of the trekking and a nice view if you make it to the summit.

Llegas a los Trapenses y subes hasta el final de la calle Golf de Manquehue. Ahí hay un portón y caminar hacia arriba. Un poco mas de 1 hora para llegar a la cumbre
