Great viewpoint and lookout view for seeing the city of Santiago. Worth walking to for a walk and checking out the place. Located in the santa lucia park and takes about 1-2 hrs to see the place.

So much to see and do here, a beautiful park with trails ponds fountains and a castle with cannons.
A must see when in Santiago the whole hillside explore.

It’s in the centre of town, it’s 100% free of charge and you get amazing views. The walk up the hill in parts can be steep. Plenty of little places to but water or an ice cream. The views are amazing! Do go and visit!

The main structure of the castle was closed during our visit, and looked like it had been for a while, the grounds and lookout is worth a visit, however, for a main tourist attraction, the place is in poor shape, the steps going up to the lookout are quite perilous, and most walkways to lead out of the grounds are closed in including the main entrance, via the monumental fountain.

The castle is currently used as an event space. The views of Santiago from the hill are great. Just remember, it's all uphill and watch your step.

A fantastic oasis in the middle of the city. Enter from the corner of Merced and Saint Lucia for the main part of the Castle. Enter from opposite the University Catolica to go right to the top and the stunning views. You can walk right around from either entrance. Various vendors to get a drink or ice-cream.

A curiosity up on top of the hill. If you dare march all the way to the top you will be rewarded with some great smoggy views and this weird building.

The park is only accessible to tourist vehicles, locals are requested to walk from street level to the summit. From the upper car park there is still a steep climb up a series of stone stairs to the viewing platform on the tower top. Views over the city to the snow capped mountains on the horizon are stunning. There are no public toilets or cafes at this location. Look out for the commemoration plaque to Charles Darwin as you climb the last few steps to the top.

This was my favorite thing to do in the city. I'm so glad we went. It is a maze of walking trails up to a castle. Great views at the top. Along the way you will see turrets, statues, cannons, lizards, birds, stone entranceways, grand fountains, dungeons, castle walls, buildings, and trees. We took the time to explore all the different paths and found something new and interesting each way we went. It's also a great place to take kids. They will love climbing on the cannons and finding secret rooms. At the same time you get some good exercise. I would not recommend it for people in wheelchairs or that have trouble walking though.

At the top of the Saint Lucia park and gardens, you'll find incredible views of Santiago. There are quite a few rambling, small buildings and art to explore as you climb to the summit, including the Castillo and a small church. It's not an easy climb and can only be done on foot, but the views are so good, it's worth every step. The very summit viewing platform is crowded and I think a few people were nervous at the lack of space, but it seems very safe, despite the low walls. It's built into the rock, so it's very secure.
