Having driven past this church many times I decided to visit whilst in the area. Without doubt a striking building but tragically it is in such a poor condition and should be restored to its original beauty, it is such a tragedy but badly neglected.

I would have so liked to have seen inside but it has such restricted times and only around services.

For all of that if in the La Moneda area it is worth a visit.

From the main squeare, in Santiago, you can access this Basilica, walking about 10 block to the south for Calle Arturo Pratt. It is a very impresive architectural building of a Catholic basilica in an area sorrounded by furniture shops, educational institutions, old books shops and a park. Recomended if you want to scape from the usual attractions of Santiago city centre and look for some local and less developed attractions, but that help to the visitors to get a better idea what it is to live in Santiago.

This Church is not exactly "in the path" if you are wandering around in Santiago, but it is worth a visit. From the ouside it does not look like it is even finished, it has a work in progress feeling...
You will be surprised by the inside!!
It is a very nice church and usually not crowded.
If it has a wheel chair access it is not obviously visible.

This large catholic church is located at the corner of Santa Isabel and Arturo Prat, at the south end of Paseo Bulnes in downtown Santiago. The basilica was modeled after the Sacre-Coeur of Paris and was declared a historical monument in 1991. The highlights for me were the multiple domes and the high ceiling. Definitely worth seeing if you're passing by. Subway: La Moneda.

From the outside it looks like it is about to crumble but the inside is quite nice. I am not sure it is worth the walk considering how far away from most other sites it is and there is nothing else around it.

This is an amazing structure inside and out. But I would not want to be anywhere near it during an earthquake. The interior is beautiful and well kept. The exterior looks like chunks of it could fall off at any moment. Go out of your way to visit this place.
