I found this place by chance, honestly. I was walking and came across it. it's wonderful. it's really friendly and comfortable. You can stay here for hours. there's no need to be a member, you can walk in, grab a book and sit down,

you can even use the computers for free for 30 minutes.

keep in mind that it's usually closed on mondays.

It's a place I frequent with my 7 year old daughter. Unlike other libraries, this has recommended rooms for each cycle and highlighting among them the "guaguateca", "biblioniños" and also themed rooms, such as the copper room. All of them with an interactive model, which invite children to become familiar by playing, playing, arming and disarming the teaching material prepared for them.
The best of everything is Free.
On Saturday and Sunday, there are free theater functions.
Workshops of all kinds and eventually fairs and exhibitions.
It is a must-see for Santiago.

I don't see many people putting this on their list of places to see in Santiago, Chile. During my three week stay in Santiago I was hanging out with a friend who happened to be a student. She needed to come to this library to find books on a particular subject (Biology). This is main library in Santiago and if you just happen to want to find a place to read or do research, the Biblioteca is a great spot. Not really a tourist attraction itself but it is close to Quinta Normal (a nice park) and it host a few art events a year that may attract you. You would get here by subway(metro) arriving at station Quinta Normal, then walk about 3 long blocks. Happy Travels!!!

This modern facility houses not only a public library, but also numerous art exhibits. On the second floor, there is a large chess set, which is a great photo op. Each of the floors also has a community information board which promotes events happening inside and outside the library. Also umbrella rental. Subway: Quinta Normal (line 5).
