There’s Some Cleaning Up to Do…
Jun 2023
Such a shame I have to rate this urban oasis three stars, since my time was great otherwise. Coming into the park from the entrance by Lourdes, which perhaps isn’t a widely-used entry point (but STILL), a field at the corner of the park adjacent to a small bordering street was littered with trash. Literal trash. No one to bother to clean it up. Being one of the very first things I saw inside the park, first impressions weren’t content. Please help me understand why the city has allowed this…could it be from a strong wind or something?? Trash flew out a dump truck and onto this large patch of grass? I’d really like to envision some kind of reason behind this, albeit there won’t ever be an excuse for litter in any park. After noticing the dirt, my experience in the park was fine; the grounds were calm and verdant. Several high school-age groups were hanging out after school let out (all in school uniforms), eating snacks or riding skateboards, which brought a feeling of contained liveliness to the place. I never felt alone. I always felt safe, too. It all was actually quite wonderful after the trash incident…just with that sour taste still in my mouth. I truly hope someone will spearhead the cleanup of that one part of the park and get it taken care of before more foreigners (and Chilean tourists, too, of course!) see it and get a poor first impression. For now, and arguably even without the trash, Parques Metropolitano and Bicentennial are going to be on a higher level than Quinta Normal…so be sure to prioritize visits to those. If I return to this one in the future, I’ll be checking to make sure that trash is gone. Litter makes me sad.

This park is great for families with kids. There's a small fountain that kids can paddle in a hot day. There's a lagoon where you can rent a paddle boat. There's a railway museum and a museum of natural history right in the park.

Stunning park in Santiago with a variety of trees, quiet spots, boating, flowers and family activities. We stumbled upon this after visiting the Museum of Memory and Human Rights across the street and it brought the calm and beauty that we needed. I imagine this park is filled with families on Sundays. The National Museum is located there but was closed when we visited the park.

I would recommend this park to who has an interest in nature and culture. Here you can take a walk or just watch the ducjs in the lagoon, and right after go into one of the museums that are in the park, and if you are ibterested in chilean history, the "Museo de la Memoria" (Museum of the Memory).

We visited this park 5 years ago and was very disappointing. We heard lots of money was spent to renovate the park, so we went back with our kids.

HUGE disappointment. There is a small pond with peddle boats, which were all poorly maintained - difficult to steer, rusty, and old. The "dock" was a hazard, and the pond water was smelly.

There is a small food stand where the people serving we're about as rude and impolite as you can imagine. No credit or debit cards accepted, yet they did not want to accept a $20 bill (local currency).

Playground was in full blazing sun, also oorly maintained..

WORST OF ALL, EVERY INCH OF THE PARK SMELLED LIKE HUMAN URINE!!!

Too bad such a historical park is so badly managed and maintianed. Don't waste your time.

Nice park with well kept green areas, right next to subway station for convenience and a national museum, which sadly is not very good.

A nicely kept park, with lots of seating and green spaces; made for a pleasant stroll around when I visited. Located near the Human Rights museum and includes the Natural History Museum, both of which are worth visiting. You can get there directly by Metro to Quinta Normal but it's also interesting to walk up from the Estacio Central station, as there are other sights along the way and it's only a short walk.

In my visit to the museums at Quinta Normal Park in some of them there were not translations to English, that is a desadvantage to the tourist. Despite of it is a good place to visit, it offers so much history.

The park itself is very nice but not spectacular. There are run down buildings with very nice graffiti art, and the park benches are occasional homes of one or two homeless persons. But the location of the park is great. There are several museums all adjacent there: Museum of Natural History, Museum of Human Rights, Museum of Contemporary Art, and, Museum of Science and Technology, just to name a few. Also, the subway gets you right to the entrance of the park.

A beautiful park with lots of walking paths and a small pond where you can rent paddle boats. Lots of museums around the area, including the National Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Science and Technology (both free admission). Great for wandering around or enjoying one of the many museums and attractions. Right off of the Quinta-Normal metro station and across the street from the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos.
