Bellavista is Great for Both Party Animals, Tourists and Athletes
There's no doubt that the charming, quirky neighborhood of Bellavista turns into a big party at night. Some streets are full of beer gardens serving cheap drinks and greasy fast food, while the music is turned up loud. During the day, Bellavista is also a great place for regular tourists who just want some nice photos of fun houses and talented murals. There are also more regular cafes and restaurants where you can satisfy your hunger or indulge your sweet tooth. And finally, Bellavista is a fantastic place for athletes, as the neighborhood's little mountain Cerro San Cristobal - with the holy Virgin on top - is set up for hikers, runners, and cyclists. If you take the long asphalt road all the way, it's about 4.8 km up. If you're more inclined to take it easy, you can also take a cable car or a minibus most of the way up.

Worth a day trip if you're older. Nightclubs and hostels galore if younger.
A colourful area of Santiago for sure. We visited during the day (couple of 41yo and 43yo) and we enjoyed the mureals/paintings on many of the buildings. It's a photogenic area if you enjoy photography or posting on social media. We stopped for something small to eat and drink, both of which were good quality. I imagine this area is suited well to younger tourists who like to party. We passed multiple night clubs and hostels, and in our younger days, may have stayed the night. Worth a day trip and the metro is easy to negotiate/use to get there.

Charming neighbourhood is a special place...
This charming neighbourhood is a special place that is on the way to Santiago’s Funicular and Cable Car, but I suggest you do it afterwards, because you might not leave, and you’ll miss the views from up high. Watch for courtyard gems, full of quirky stores, impressive restaurants, elegant artisanal shops and beer gardens with happy hour prices! Later there is loud music and live entertainment, but before then watch out for the brilliant murals from the talented artists of the area. A definite must see.

Be sure to find the internal courtyard(s) - it's easy to walk by because some of the nearby streets/entrances aren't clear. The interior of at least one of these blocks is full of all kinds of cool restaurants and bars! Go find it!

Those who do the round trips like Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago will find this barrio and the one called Palermo Soho in Buenos Aires very similar. Bars, cafes, restaurants, trendy, hype. Interesting visit.

Day after New Year's eve dirty and reaked of urine.
Lots of restaurants and bars.
Some cool street art and nice boutique hotels, check out Bellavista Patio when you are in the area.

This is when I realise that people have different views... Walked around Bellavista. What I saw was a run down area. If there was art work it seems to have been lost with graffiti. The restaurants along Pio Nono were to be avoided, mostly fast food. Maybe it needed an "artistic eye" who knows. What the area does do is come alive late at night when the clubs open, if that's your thing, stay away till then

This is a colourful place, a relatively clean community with nice homes and plenty of restaurants, cake/coffee cafes, ice creameries etc. good except we went for dinner. I wish I had taken notice of where we ate as the food was the worst, the driest pasta ever tasted and not what I ordered, Shame, as it was a waste of time, money and a good night out. So be careful where you go, and if there’s not that many in the place then there’s obviously a reason!

Really lovely part of town. The artisan and Bohemian district of Santiago, a great place for restaurants and bars, fun shops, interesting people, old and well maintained architecture. Really worth visiting and spending a few hours either just walking, or hopping between pubs and restaurants.

This was one of my favorite neighborhoods in Santiago. We stayed in the area around Pablo Neruda's house and could easily walk to the local restaurants and bars. The neighborhood felt safe and was pedestrian friendly. The zoo and funicular are close by, too.

We came here expecting an interesting hip area and found a neighborhood full of sleazy bars fully of sketchy people, maybe some hookers? We did feel safe, but on a busy night, watch your wallets! No place seemed pleasant enough to have a drink in. Loud music and a lot of drunks. Some interesting street art, but covered over with graffiti tags.
