A place that is already part of the smoky walk for its years of service and good food (sandwich variety and Viennese), the service of each garzon that has not touched is always of excellence and with very good disposition for our needs
Quality 10/10
Service 10/10.
Especially today highlighted the service of Nelson Tapasco

Nice about this shopping street starting at the Plaza de Armas leading southwards is no motorized vehicles are allowed to access. It is a pedestrian zone. Good example to follow for other streets in the historic center.

This is one of the main pedestrian thoroughfares in the city. Many old buildings well restored but for us, the best part is watching city workers going about their daily activity, be it shopping, lunching, or dashing betwen meetings. A great place for a mix of architecture and life.

Busy, crowded no cars allowed so no need to worry about stopping for lights.
Some shops and places to eat.
I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

The Paseo Ahumada is a huge walkway that leads to the Plaza de Armas. The Paseo had numerous stores along several city blocks. There are numerous street vendors selling everything you can imagine including food, drinks, jewelry, Spanish newpapers and magazines, and many other things.
Many of the street vendors have their goods displayed on small blankets laid on the ground. This is probably they don't have a required license. When they spot the police coming, they sweep up their goods in the blanket and disappear.
I bought a drink along the way that had some kind of fruit juice with corn kernels in the bottom. Apparently this is a national Chilean drink. It was ok but not that impressive. We also stopped at a office supply store where my wife bought a tablet for sketching and a note book for recording her thoughts about our travels.
This was an interesting place and was jammed with people. It was fun and interesting to see.

Love going there cause you'll find everything you need to see: Plaza de Armas, shops where you can buy clothes, food, crafts, handmade etc, also there's a lot of places of currency exchange and nearby there is a metro station. You will see many carabineros (police) around this place, you will be safe!

If you brought cash and want to exchange to chilean pesos, there are several exchange stores with much better rates than in any other place (airport, for example).

Busy traditional shopping street with loads of street vendors. The galleries around the Paeo Ahumada is more interesting (and cheap). Funny, modern art decoration lights up this street. Watch out for pickpockets.

We had the chance to walk around the street for an hour or do and liked all the action all around. There were so many street vendors as well as street performers. We enjoyed wondering around for a little while.

Hanging off the southwest corner of Plaza de Armas and under another name (Puente) extending north up to the Rio Mapocho this pedestrian only street is a great place for people watching, shopping for trinkets, having a light meal or drink... but for me the prize is enjoying the buskers. Singers, ballroom dancers (stunningly sensual), sax players, folk dancers, whirling devish drummers, Bible thumpers, con men, Hare Krishnas, conga line drummers & dancers, painters, fake statue people... very entertaining.
