It is a beautiful place, with barbecue areas for barbecues, tables, the river, and very clean bathrooms.
The climb is not very good from the moment you pay to the picnic area and it is not cheap per person, $8000 each.
We went riding a motorcycle to the hill and it is beautiful, with incredible viewpoints and views where you can see the mountain range, condors and native vegetation.
I highly recommend it.

We went with family and friends with family!
It is a very nice place, and close to Stgo!
The best thing is also that they charge admission then it does not fill much, apart from that you must go by car!
There are many places for roasts and a lot to walk, if you go in summer or in heat, children bathe in the river

This was so much unexpected fun! We rented a car, with a GPS, SET THE LOCATION & in 20 short minutes we were on a dirt road traveling up the foot hills of the Andes. It was fantastic few hours, with all kinds of trails leading, some leading to the river where you can take a quick dip to cool off after some hiking! This is a high recommend for a morning or afternoon adventure!

It's hard to believe you are so close to Santiago. This nature reserve has an abundance of trails hugging a few valleys in the pre-cordillera hills just to the east of the city. You access the park via el Camino del Cajon in the comuna of Lo Barnechea. It took us 45mins to get here from Manquehue metro as a reference. Several buses (C01, 409, 411) get you to Plaza San Enrique and from there look for the colectivos (shared taxis) lined up along one side of the plaza who can take you the remaining 15 mins uphill (grab their number so you can call them for a lift back!). You pay to get in (check their website for current pricing). The picnic areas at the bottom of the park hug a river that was kicking up some decent rapids in spring (though not wide enough to raft, kayak at a stretch though not sure if allowed). There is lots of shade, heaps of parking, heaps of BBQs (coal BYO, not gas), ample picnic tables and lots of Chileans to occupy them all on a Sunday. The hiking trails are not well marked unfortunately but to get started I recommend following your nose upriver through the picnic area (on the west side of the river) to get started and go from there. There is a big map at the park entrance we took a photo of but it was still difficult to work out where we were. We walked for about 90 mins roughly following the river deeper into the mountains before returning by retracing our steps. If you have time and are adventurous you could push further (we heard from a local the trail runs about 10kms and ends at a waterfall). About 20 mins into our walk we found a pool that was fed by natural sources (on private land, paid entry) which looked spectacular but wasn't open (suspect summer only) called Banos de Cal. Would go back just to go here. Note the park is popular with dirt motorbike riders (you may see them unloading just before the picnic areas), but once out on the hiking trails we didn't see/hear them at all so they must have their own routes. The picnic area also had playgrounds and toilets, and horse riding trips into the oars leave from here (I would suggest call ahead to arrange that). In spring many colourful flowers out. Highly recommended as an accessible hike from Santiago.

Nature park, very close to the city, but totally not noticable.. After the entrance (fee of 3000 pesos) you come to a parking, and there is a big BBQ area near the river. Perfect spot to spend a day in summer. From there you can walk. There are several paths, but not indicated (just one signboard with a map near the parking). Also good for mountain biking.
You can only get there by car. There is no camping.

Most people (read: locals) go here to walk around for while, 300 meters from where the car is parked, near a BBQ spot, and they think they are having a serious outdoor experience, but I recommend to get up on the bike, head back towards the entrance towards the abounded house, and then pedal up the dirt road and follow it for 30-60 min (depending of the condition you're in) and you'll get a really nice view of the Andes towards the east. The dirt road will first turn towards the west but then you'll follow the mountain southeast and then east while climbing. At some places you might need to carry the bike but its worth the effort. Especially if your friends have been preparing the BBQ while you we're gone :). Oh, the downhill ride from the top down to the BBQ area takes about 7 min and its worth the sweaty ride up. Have fun now.

Well, I really don't like to say bad things about anything, and this one it's not completely bad (or maybe I expected too much). The thing is, for this kind of plans, there is other options, like "cerro San Cristobal", is closer and cheaper. Because this one is just a bbq with a little river crossing the park. There is too much people, and cars passing close to you driving up dust. One last thing, get in there cost 4.000 CLP.

Nice outlook of the central mountain range of Santiago. To do some trekking, picnic, barbeque or just a walk.

Just about 30 minutes from Santiago center, this place offer a fun and relaxing outing for the whole family. There are walk paths available, either skirting the steep Andean mountain, or along the river gorge. You will need good shoes. First time we took our 3yr and 4yr for the walk and they enjoyed it. They return many times afterwards.
After the walk, set up the BBQ on one of the many fire pits. Enjoy the meal by the river. The toilet is clean. It is also possible to arrange a paintball game in a house ruin.
