This place is around the intersection of Avenue Paris and Avenue Londres(London), right in the heart of the city. The buildings reflect a strong European influence. Best explored by walking through this area to get a unique feel of Europe and get a better perception of history. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting the same to any traveler in Santiago.

Pretty architect and lovely details on buildings.
Cobblestone streets and some statues.
Very quiet due the fact it was January 1st.

Calle Londres is a small pedestrian "street" which intersects with calle Paris, creating Barrio Paris Londres. It's like a taste of Europe - with gorgeous architecture, cobble-stoned streets and beautiful balconies. It's also incredibly peaceful - so a good place to escape the hustle and bustle of Santiago.

Barrio Paris Londres is not far from Plaza de las Armas, off one of the passages for pedestrians. The streets Londres and Paris intersect, showcasing more high-end shops and interesting architecture. While walking the curving Calle Londres, we stopped to watch a fashion shoot. And then we continued until we reached Londres 38, which is now the site of an important, fairly new museum. The infamous history of the address, which was the site where Pinochet's regime brought people who were "under suspicion," is brought to light in the museum through details about the interrogations, torture and "disappearing" that occurred to folks who were brought to Londres 38. This information is offered through video interviews of survivors and/or their family members, as well as through information about excavations done at the site that helped corroborate descriptions by survivors of what they recalled taking place at the location. The curators' main goal is make sure the atrocities that occurred during the Pinochet dictatorship are not forgotten. Like the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Londres 38 retains a sense of the darkness that was endured by its inhabitants. And like all sites depicting mans' inhumanity to man, Londres 38 offers insights into Chile's history that should be seen and understood, so those who suffered and/or lost their lives will not have done so in vain.

I live in Chile and I believe this is a MUST in Santiago. This street is in the heart of the noisy downtown, and when you enter, suddenly everything is quiet and nice. It is in a 1800 style and has nice cafes and restaurants. I like to visit and just sit and read a book. There are hotels here too. Also, as some may know, as during the military government there were many people tortured, there is a museum (place which was used as a torture center) that is very useful if you want to learn more about chilean history.

A European-feel in this small quiet neighborhood near downtown. Interesting because it does not look like the rest of Santiago. But we have nicer streets in Paris and in London.

You may get the impression that you are walking through a European sector but really apart from some historical buildings with interesting balconies there is little else to do here. It comprises only a few blocks and apart from one outdoor cafe there is nothing that will encourage you to stop and linger. Over-rated.
