About MTO Tour
MTO Tour is a company that renews the concept of tourism in Chile, thus adding important aspects that are not considered in the tourism industry in Chile, such as: -Regular tours in vans with maximum 8 passengers: This make feature better service, because the interaction between the guide or the driver and passengers is more close, with each of the passengers, without neglecting passengers that can be found in the last seats. In the case if you need private service with a big number of people that want be all together on the tour we have available vehicles. -Regular excursions and guided tours spoken in just 1 language: One of the main claims of passengers visiting Chile booking a regular tour, is the mixture of several languages on the same tour . Though undeniably beautiful, the Embalse El Yeso reservoir in Cajon del Maipo is notoriously difficult to access. Visit as part of a guided tour from Santiago to let an experienced driver handle the pot-holed road while you admire spectacular views of the Andes Mountains. This small-group tour is limited to just 13 people or fewer—the perfect size for enjoying your picnic lunch and a bottle of wine upon arrival.

I booked ths trip to Cajon del Maipo because it was the keast exoensive one and they offered tours in English with a hotel pick up. I was sent a message on wattsup with the pick up time and the driver made arrangements to meet at my hotel. I was the first one to be picked up and the driver was half and hour late. The scheduled pick up was 6:10 and he arrived around 6:40. That being said Diego was very pleasant and was fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese and English. The trip to the canyon takes around 2 hours and it took another 45 minutes to collect all the other passengers. We stopped at a hiking equipment rental and I rented some boots because I did not want to get my new sneakers dirty. Boots are highly recommended if it is snowing. The canyon itself is lovely and we spent around 2 hours there including the pinic, which really was just a collection of snacks and salami with some wine but there were no complaints from the guests. Diego maintained good spirits throughout and got everyone back safely. We did stop at the "chocolate house" which is a chocolate shop on the way back. I had seen delicious icecream and authentic hot chocolate. In reality we spent more time in transit and picking up/dropping off guests than at the canyon but for $45 CAD, I thought the experience was pretty good.

Dreadful experience. 1 hour late departure. Cramped car. Had to leave as illegfal COVID practices being followeds. No masks being worn and driver encouraged non wearing of masks. Had to leave the car. To cap it all, the operator, MTO Chile, have lied to Viator about their COVID ptractices and a refund is being refused. Avoid at all costs.

Driver Juan and tour guide Roxane were great. The views of the port were excellent from the top. Walking from the TP to the bottom allowed us to view beautiful paintings on the buildings. “We aren’t Hippies. We are happies!”

Illegal COVID practices on this tour so we were forced to leave. MTO Tour Chile was operator N refund given as yet and no acknowledgement of this serious issue. Other issues as well including cramped car (not minivan) and 1 hour delay in starting.

It was a great tour. The tour guide and the driver did a great job of picking everyone from the hotel, bringing us to the important viewing spots and dropping everyone at the Hotels
