About PatagoniaShorex - Tours
While Jaime is of German stock, he was born in Chile and is fluent in several languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Hebrew. For several years he lived, worked and traveled extensively in the Middle East and Europe. After returning to his native Chile, Jamie joined the travel business and worked as a tour leader for several travel agencies. The tours offered by these agencies were usually for large groups and had tough schedules with little or no flexibility. Jaime wished to improve on this experience and pass on his love of his own country to others. He believed that his university education and his extensive experience in the industry would enable him to create and run his own agency that would be small and flexible and would consequently provide a better value to the touring public. He now offers customized tours to the independent traveler as well as to vacationers on cruise ships arriving at the port of Puerto Montt. His service enables the discerning traveler to make the most of a visit, regardless of the limited amount of time available or special interests to be pursued.“So, let me take care of the details while you enjoy the beauty of southern Chile. I will do it for you.”

I had to cancel my trip to Machu Picchu 3 months before going and was promised a full refund. After 18 months all I've had is excuses followed by silence. I don't believe you can trust the promises this company gives.

For our first visit to Chile (and Puerto Montt), we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jaime treated us like distant relatives who came to visit. We enjoyed everything about the tour he gave us including a lunch stop at a delightful local restaurant we would have never found on our own.

With our tour guide Gloria and driver Victoria we headed out of the port terminal at 8:00 am on Dec 22, 2018. At our first pee stop along Lake Llanquihue, the second largest lake in Chile we were able to pictures of Llamas. We stopped a couple of times alongside the Petrohue River for photo opportunities, especially of the Volcano Osorno - the Fujiyama of South America. Then we stopped at Esmerelda Lake – Chile’s Lake Louise. We took a few more pictures and watched two eagles go into a tree close to us. We also saw two other active volcanoes – Tronador & Puntiagudo One of the tours actually took the tram up the side of the Osorno volcano and saw ice craters as this was one of the few days you could see anything (Your Mom really wanted to do that). We each paid $6 to see the Petrohue Falls. They were nothing special. We stopped at the Verde Laguana. It was a green pool of water. I took a picture of a big rainbow trout near the water’s surface On the way back we stopped in Puerto Varas which was settled by the Germans. Besides Bavarian shapes they had colorful homes. We stopped at their downtown square for a 40 minute walk-around. Our guide said she takes her Mom and 8 year old son to the Cassis restaurant for their ice cream. When we walked inside two of the assistant cruise directors, Gabi and Veronika, were just paying their bill. We ordered carmello flan ice cream and a cake with a 7 minute meringue icing (looked like toasted marshmallows). The freshness and taste were outstanding. Our last stop was the fish market (Angelmo Market) in Puerto Montt. It was also a vegetable market. We watched a vendor feed salmon leftovers to the sea lions.

Jaimie is a top notch tour organizer. He loves what he does and that enthusiasm shows! The guides he arranged were also top notch, with an in-depth knowledge of the area, customs, etc.
