The Museum arrived there, leaving behind a neglected cement space sometimes occupied by alcoholics. We are grateful that Pablo Fierro has designed a space where he has recovered old things from our Puerto Varas, such as the Chilean Post Office mailbox, or emblematic signs of the city. This museum has free admission, so perhaps that is why there is no staff to help clean, shine or organize things and the space. It is not a conventional museum, it is a place where you enter the magic of what our city was, where there are experiences, artifacts, drawings and many letters from people who leave their memories.

Old house with four or five floors filled with old odds and ends. Hippy type place where people left written letters and notes on the walls. On the lake with great views of the volcano. Really wasn't a museum in a traditional sense, but I liked it. No entrance fee but place to leave donation. No obvious staff.

I stopped at Pablo's museum as I was strolling along the lakefront. The rambling house is filled from floor to ceiling with quirky items collected by Pablo and with paintings that he has created. I loved spending a couple of hours exploring the trinkets and treasures that were tucked into every nook and cranny.

Little rhythm or reason to a house filled with dirty, dusty stuff that is piled on top of each other. We explored for a while and then began to feel creepy and left.

From the outside it's a cross between a fairy tale cottage and a festival acid trip!
I walked past this place several times before I found it open one day by chance - the opening house were a bit ad hoc, although now it's Spring, maybe it'll be a bit more regular.
The museum is crammed to the rafters with things - old doorways, window frames, artwork, local historical objects, photos, plaques, mugs, dusty cabinets and the usual museum stuff - BUT, it also has a myriad of corridors and staircases AND a school room where you can learn to draw, paint or simply practise your craft in peace and creative bliss. It's an artist paradise and a Feng Shui nightmare all at the same time.
It's got to be visited if only to meet Pablo, the artist owner who has created the magical place all by himself after being gifted the original building by the local authorities once his old museum in Puerto Montt grew too small for his growing collection.
Pop in for a look at his art, a view of the lake and a mystery tour of this tardis type bonkers museum

Give an artist a run-down house and set him to it -- from rebuilding to acquiring historical curiosities to displaying his own art. This house is totally ensouled by the remarkable Pablo, who, as he will tell you "Is the Museum." Not to be missed.

Pablo Fierro is incredibly interesting and this museum/gallery is well worth a visit on the way to eat at La Gringa. Every inch is covered in art and found objects. One of our favorite things we did in Puerto Varas. There is a room with paper and crayons for the kids to make art too.

This museum is in a house that seems to be in the process of expansion and is located across the street from the lake. The collection consists of odds and ends that the owner, an artist, has collected over the years. The items are displayed in a haphazard fashion on the walls, floors and ceilings. I assume Pablo Fierro is usually present, and we were able to purchase a piece of original artwork from him. He told us about his collection and is a very nice man. The visit is worth the price of admission--which is free.
