If you walk down Av .O'Higgins (the main avenue in Pucon) you should arrive at a body of water by the name of "La Poza", not Lago Villarica (check the maps)! Lago Villarica itself can be reached by walking along the waterfront of La Poza.

Regardless, be sure to check out both lakes!!! Whatever their names, they´re both amazing!

Visit Lago Villarica at the sunset for great views!

The lake is a nice place for chilling out during the summer. Many options from swimming to kite surfing... Really great also for photography because the black sand creates nice contrasts with the sky. Go in second weekend in January and you can watch the beautiful triathlon race the Ironman 70.3 Pucon.

Other than the costanera (costal road), Villarica has little to offer the average tourist. Pucon actually makes for a better base for its myriad of activities (besides Volcano Villarica). That said, the costanera is pretty, especially at sunset so consider making a trip out here from Pucon. Both cities are connected by a good public bus network and are only 30 minutes apart. Say at Villarica if you prefer a slightly more Chilean feel as Pucon can come across as rather touristy at times.

The lake is wonderful but makes me sad that ppl contaminate it. New buildings, hotels on the coast, at some places garbage

It's a really good place to visit, in summer you can swim in the lake , kayak , stand up paddle, jet ski, relaxing in the sand of the beach and drink beer in the restaurants in the shores of the lake. Also if you come to visit this place in winter you can relaxing in a canoe and enjoy the landscape. If you are on the lake you can see the and the mountains, the volcano behind you and the stores of the town.

This must be one of the most beautiful in the region, as a bonus, it has on its shores Pucon and Villarica itself, two very charming small towns with a myriad of inns, hotels, cabins, restaurants, parks, etc, etc and the drive between them is magical

O'Higgins leads you directly to the lake. The walkway has sculptures that line the sidewalk and take you to the beach. Enjoy and remember to bring your sunscreen.
