It's an arch. Made of whalebone. 5 stars!! Looks very similar to the one at Whitby. Stanley is twinned with Whitby after all.

Unique, eye-catching and an appropriate monument to the region. This old pair of jaw bones from blue whales replace an earlier pair that deteriorated under the harse conditions of these Southern Atlantic Islands. Located next to the Stanley cathedral, the two complement each other in...More

Located in the Garden of the Christ Church Garden on Ross Road. The Arch is simply one of the "must sees" in Stanley. It would be hard to miss as Stanley is a very small town. Just head down Ross Road from the port and...More

Probably the best known landmark in Stanley. You can't miss it, as it is situated on the main road along the coast.

A common picture from the Falklands and is well worth seeing for yourself. The whalebone arch is the iconic feature but the church itself is worth looking round.

When we were here in January the park and church with the whalebone arch was surrounded by beautiful flowers. It was interesting to walk through while you were exploring the town but definitely not a destination in itself

Located an easy walk from the pier. The grounds are very well kept. A photograph here is a terrific souvenier!

Adjacent to the cathedral. Commemorates the British administration in the islands. Quite similar to those found all over the world.

We were wondering around East Falkland after our tour to see the penguins and stopped to see the Whalebone Arch. it is interesting if a somewhat odd placement in front of the church.

Considering these are whale bones of a significant age they are in very good condition . We thought the area was lovely and well kept.
