This is a very peaceful and green park facing the Johor Straits. As it was low tide in the morning, I walked along the beach and then a small track all the way to Passion Wave. The amenities in the park have been improved with toilet facilities and water cooler. Beaulieu House is a good place for lunch and it opens at 11 am. Sembawang park is also connected to the black and white bungalows estate. There is a heritage trail which includes the historical buildings in this area.

It was sometime back in 2015 when I last visited this park. 5 years later, it seems the park has not changed much. The only change is that we are now in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and I had to put on my face mask as I roamed around and kept a safe distancing with the rest of the visitors.

We have obtained prior approval with NParks for our brisk walk and we are allowed to come with 40 residents. We had our warm up exercises at the open space near the car park keeping a 2 m safe distance from one another while stretching our limbs before embarking on the walk.

The 40 of us were divided into 5 groups of 8 each led by a group leader. The group leaders kept urging participants to maintain a safe distance from one another and avoid getting too `intimate'. We made a big loop around the park ending at the jetty. We enjoyed the calm and relaxing sea view overlooking Johor.

I noticed few groups of visitors laying their groundsheets enjoying their family picnic. The pandemic restricted many of us from traveling and we longed to enjoy our times with our loved ones in nature and in the greenery of the parks and able to breathe in the fresh air.

One of my Indian residents draw my attention to a cannon ball tree beside the Beaulieu House. The beautiful radiantly bold orange flowers grew from tentacled branches that spiraled out of the trunk of the unique tree. Indian devotees would offer these lovely flowers to Lord Shiva during prayers. This is the first time I saw such a blossomly beautiful holy tree at a park.

I was also impressed with the Victorian architectural Beaulieu House which was very well maintained. I understand that the current tenant spent about $30k every year to renovate this restaurant. With the current pandemic, the restaurant must be hard hit in her business with less tourists coming and less functions to organize.

As I walked down the staircase to the jetty, I can feel a strong sea breeze caressing my face. Just hope that the pandemic will be over soon so that we can regain our normal life.

Used to be a quiet park for residents living around Sembawang, but with th development of Yishun and Sembawang New Towns, it get crowded over the weekends or holiday.

It had only a small stretch of beach, clean but sometimes subject to float-sam rubbish from either Malaysia or Singapore herself.

The park itself is huge, but mostly people gather around the beach area and the pier.

There is a colonial building housing a restaurant.

Nice place to walk around on a Sunday morning.

For just spending some time in a lovely seaside setting, this is a nice park. Very clean and well cared for. Loved the view over to Malaysia. If you have time, do have lunch at the park, the restaurant is special indeed.

The 15 hectare park is popular with residents in the area, as a place to barbecue, have family picnics, go for walks/runs through the greenery, to walk the dog, and for fishing. Newly upgraded in the middle of this year, the park has better facilities now including a workout area, and a wonderful playground for kids featuring a climbing feature that looks like a battleship.

There is also a Chinese restaurant in the century-old Beaulieu House that has been accorded conservation status.

The park is all the way out North so not worth making a trip out if you are just visiting Singapore, however a nice place to pop by if you do happen to be in the area.

You can visit my blog to read about my recent visit to the park, and for some info on the area's naval history:

A great place for family gathering although the park is a bit difficult to find. Book the BBQ-Pit beforehand.

Sembawang Park is one of those places you would not have been on your wish list.
However, if you make plans for a Beauliue House dinner after a leisure afternoon stroll you maybe in for a surprise.
If you like to watch eagles soar through the evening sky, this is the ideal spot.
For whatever reason woodpecker where latch onto car window instead of trees.

Located at the Northern End of Singapore is Sembawang Park. A serene and quiet place to take away the stresses of life. There is an added attraction of visiting the old colonial houses with splendid visuals of black and white where once the British Navy stayed.

A rare sight on a hidden corner of Singapore where one gets to see tall buildings and public housings.

A quiet place a colonial building serving food and ice cream seller on weekend. Good for dates but really nothing much to do here.

I lived here when a child and was so pleased I returned to see the changes. There is a fab Hawker Center to try local food within this mainly residential area. Off Thomson Road is Lower Peirce Reservoir which was not busy and a beautiful site. There are many walks you can take but remember your water as it is very hot. There are also signed to warn you against wild boar and monkeys but gladly we didn’t see any. Sembawang is easy to get to by bus which we used.
