This place is free for citizens, while you pay for admission if you are a visitor. The place has many interactive displays you can engage in, and there are some exhibits that are quite good in bringing out the essence of being Singaporean. For example, the intro video on So Singapore is a concise summary of Singaporeans, although it is... More

While the SDC is listed under the Defence category in the Museum Roundtable, it seems to surround National Education more than anything. The entire SDC is full of interactive exhibits, from games, to quizzes, to even a news reporting simulator. It is a fun way to learn, especially for children. The place might not be a cup of tea if... More

This place is quiet and surprisingly super nice. The main hall is about Singapore (exhibits and info on Singapore in the past and present). However, they also have Iwerks theatre, screening updated 3D movies at a fraction of cost ($7 only). They also have XD threatre (like roller-coaster simulator) which costs $10/pax. There is also Army museum nearby. The best... More

Spent several hours at the discovery centre. Really interesting. Make sure you spend $3 more and get the bus tour including the military museum. Very easy to get to on the MRT.

This place is located right at the end of the East-West line - about a 10 min walk from Joo Koon station. We came on a Saturday morning in an attempt to escape the haze problem currently facing Singapore. Entrance is free for locals, but you'll have to pay $10 if you bring your helper or any other foreigners (which... More

To escape the haze, we brought two 6-YO and one 18month old to the discovery centre. It turned out to be quite a good decision. The 6YOs had fun with the interactive exhibits and collected the stamps to exchange for a recyclable bag. Lunch was not that expensive , considering there was only one "Canteen" there. As Singaporeans, the entrance... More

Out on the far side of Singapore it showed a lot of info about the growth and potential improvements for the area. Definitely more for locals and school kids I think. Some interactive stuff to do.

It is more for local audience and this centre is too far to reach, it doesn't worth the trip to go down that far down. It showcases how Singapore developed as a country, however I think they have put too much emphasis on the bombing evacuation plan, which becomes the only thing I could recall if you were to ask... The focus is on Singapore's national history and military with the objective of providing Singaporeans with a sense of nationhood given that the country is a young nation. Given this the main target audience is towards school groups, the displays as aim at a younger audience. As it is located some way out of the main town and away from... More
