Quality local food for less than $10 and lots of it - fantastic!
Been here before and can’t rate highly enough. Pls eat here at least some of time you are here or the other hawker centres as not only are you eating great local food at great prices but helping a community of families who work hard day in day out to provide for themselves and all of us. You will also struggle to find better local food at any restaurant and I can assure you that you will pay more than 10 times the money for it. Also pls be aware that there are those restaurant’s unfortunately here that will drag you in and you will end up paying way too much for a meal you could have had at the hawker centre for a fraction of the cost. I must add the local coffee is exceptional also ($1.40) and you can get a beer here which has gone up considerably since last time here at $10 a pint but still reasonable for what most of us would pay at home. Also this is the place to experiment so try that Indian dish that you don’t know what is in it but it smells amazing or the Michelin starred Nasi Lemak or the other countless other dishes from around the world that make up Singaporean cuisine.

    Interesting food experience
A must visit, note most places are walkable. Should you desire to visit, make sure to arrive around 15:00 as finding seating can be a challenge and plan out your preferred stalls ahead of visit . We went La pat at lunch, but most of the vendors weren't open, and the Satay stalls are only open in the evenings.

    Best street food in Singapore
Must be the best street food scene in Singapore by a mile. Victorian styled cast iron market structure with Hundreds of hawkers, seating for probably a couple of thousand people inside or out. It's open on all sides with huge fans keeping you cooler, and the variety is amazing. Spend some time walking around before you decide what to go for. Best to have a small portion of many things. We sat outside on the closed road known as Satay Street, the clue is in the name! Looking forward to going back one day.

    Definitive street food market
The definitive hawker street food market. Fantastic atmosphere and food stalls from all around Asia. A dish of food is typically $8, and delicious. Only downside is the heat and humidity, but, hey, this is Singapore!

Even on a weekday evening the place was buzzing. Satay is the speciality here, and there were plenty of options on offer. The food to be honest was not worth the hype or heat and smoke. Have had better at mall food courts in Singapore albeit for a slight premium. It was also irritating to have the hawkers constantly hound you to buy from them. Those who enjoy crowded, bustling, hot and in your face probably would enjoy Lau Pa Sat. We did not.

As soon as you arrive you have the big decision. What will I eat tonight? It’s busy at night but you can find a table if you keep looking. It’s warm inside but there are fans on the ceiling. We ate here twice. Good value and very tasty meals. Worth a visit for sure.

Singapore is known for its Hawker Centers and this may be the most famous do to its appearance on Crazy Rich Asians. We spent the morning visiting temples and shopping in Chinatown. While it was a couple of blocks we simply felt we had to visit. I got chicken and rice and my wife got the dumplings. The food was great and we enjoyed the ambiance as well. The architecture is impressive and as a bonus the center is on Robinson Road for all the Robinsons out there like myself.

Really, truly the cleanest, best seating under canopy with ceiling fans and excellent food at a good price. Try the Indian food...I still dream about it! No other hawker stand compares.

We loved everything we ate here. It’s a bit bonkers and you have to walk around and get your bearings as so many stalls. We loved the one in the photo. Had number 7 Salmon Don. Ab delicious. Also bought fresh fruit juices. They could teach a couple of the restaurants we ate in a thing or two. Will go back if we have time.
