The observation deck on level 50 is a scam. I bought a ticket at reception to go up the elevator, but when I got to the elevator I was told that the observation deck was closed because the floor was wet. It had been raining that day. When I asked for a refund they told me that no refunds are possible even though I had just purchased the ticket less than a minute earlier. The whole thing is a scam. Don't waste your time coming here or your money. I wasted both.

So this is a (Huge) observation deck on the top floor of the Duxton housing complex. It takes about 30 min to walk the entire deck and you get 360 degree views of Singapore 50 floors up! And its only 6 SGD.

People pay to go up and see the views. But I personally think the playground compound is the free area that's worth a visit.
If you want free views - go up the Dawson HDB complex or climb up Mount Faber instead. Level 33 has good brunch and views too.

The information available on the internet is a little contradictory. We got there before 9am because one website said visitors were limited to 200 each day and we wanted to beat the crowds. There weren’t any crowds, there was just us and probably, about half an hour later, another couple. So we probably didn’t need to rush there.
We were confused about paying and the need for the EZ Link card. You must pay cash at the little office on the ground floor in Building 1G ($6 per person) which opens at 9am and then they authorize your E-Z Link card to go up the elevator. You are limited to the open sky deck on the 50th floor and must exit at the same elevator bank you used to arrive.
We loved it. The views are magnificent, taking in the red-tiled houses of Chinatown, the high-rise buildings in Singapore across to the sea and also of Pinnacle@Dutton itself as it curls around your view. You are never right on the edge of the building, rather about 2 metres back from it. However, we found even more interesting the Skydeck itself with its little garden nooks representing a beach and other themed areas. We also found the ground floor with its historical display of the previous building and community areas an introduction to living in high rise Singapore life.

We got off the mrt at Outram park, just look up when you exit and you'll see the building. Walked about 10 mins to building G, ticket office is at level one. We had ezilink cards which were validated to allow entry at the 50th floor. It cost $6 each. We didn't have the correct money however the gentleman at the office was very polite. Probably easier if you do bring the correct dollars.
As suggested we were there around sunset and stayed until it got dark. Definitely recommended.
At the 50th floor there is a track with trees and gardens. Pretty sitting areas and lots of photo opportunities. An interesting and unique architectural experience. There is a drink vending machine at base of G. There are no toilets up there so best go at the train station.

I've been living here for 12 weeks now and leave it to a visiting guest to suggest Pinnacle - the building I pass by every day.
The building itself is impressive (if not a bit imposing). What is more impressive is that it is public housing. If you're from the UK, you know this is definitely not a typical 'public housing' building.
Basically, you have access to the 50th floor and that's it. But that's all you need and at $5 SGD for a trip up, it's definitely worth it. Duxton Hill and the Pinnacle is right close to Chinatown and many other tourist attractions so it's definitely no effort to go to. It's a 30-45 minute kind of tourist attraction and you just get great views, 365 degrees of the city. There is no guide, no narration, no frills, you're going to the top of a tall and iconic building and that's it. Whilst the Shard in London will charge you £25, this is a bargain at $5 SGD.
Just be organized....
1) check out the website as only 200 people are allowed up per day. You're not likely to have a problem, not many people know about it and 200 is a lot of people. The website shows you have many people have visited so far in the day. We went on the Saturday of a public holiday and there was only one German family up there.
2) get an EZ LINK card beforehand. EZ Link cards are the prepaid cards that you use on the bus and MRT. No credit card is accepted, it's a simple kiosk that you swipe, it says OK and then you go to the 50th and swipe it again. Get an EZ Link card in all cases to use for public transport in Singapore and this is another good use for it. You cannot use the same EZ Link card twice (ie for more than one person) so each user must have a card. You can top it up from the 7-11 20 metres from the kiosk.
So, you have to be a bit organized but it's worth it. Nothing exciting at the top just great views!
Enjoy!

Make your way through the other side of Chinatown and enjoy the exquisite refurbished shophouses on the way to the Duxton Pinnacles. Such a juxtaposition of architecture!
Be sure to bring your EZ card to pay at the management office in building G. Then take the lift to the top and enjoy a pleasant hour or so admiring the view while walking across connecting bridges in a garden setting. Best way to spend an afternoon!

For a small entry fee of 6 dollars (cash only, but you will need an MRT EZ-link card or Singapore tourist pass card which is coded to provide your building access), you can ride the elevator to the 50th floor of this impressive complex of 7 conjoined public housing towers. At the 50th floor is a landscaped 'skypark' which joins the buildings and provides amazing views across Singapore.
It was not very busy when I was there so it's also quite a nice place to relax and take a break.
Highly recommended.

This place definitely stands out if we're talking about public housing. There are something like 7 blocks of apartments joint together by a skybridge on the 26th floor and the main attraction on the 50th floor.
The views are amazing and you'll easily spend something like an hour just walking around and taking some really good photos. Weekdays are much better and I would highly recommend coming on a weekday since weekends tend to be somewhat crowded.
I came by on a weekend, some time around 6'ish to catch the sunset and just couldn't catch any peace and quiet. It's simply bustling with kids, other photographers, a handful of other tourists and even spotted a property agent or two bringing their prospective clients for a tour of the place.
On another occasion, I came by around 8pm on a weekday and you'll still catch amazing views of the entire city and it was so much better! The twinkling lights of the city, there was a strong wind blowing so it was cool and there were so much fewer people around so it gives you time to be alone, enjoying the peacefulness and tranquility.

I was at the Chinatown area for a stroll and decided to visit this unique public housing sky scraper to take a look at its unique architectural design. The HDB `condominium' is located opposite the Police Cantonment Complex building (which housed the Criminal Investigation Department, the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Central Police Division) and can be reached by alighting at Outram Park MRT Station and walk for about 8 mins to reach the building.
The external design of the building was intrinsically designed and look modern and stylish and the external finish is comparable to those of the standard of a private condominium. As it was a public flat, there was no guard post at the entrance to restrict you from access into the upper floor via the lift.
I took the lift up to the 30th floor and found that the common corridor design was not so unique. The whitewash plain color of the walls were more or less similar to those we see in HDB flats.
I then decided to proceed to the sky-bridge which interconnected the various towers of this building. Coincidentally there was a resident in the lift who was also pressed for the 50th floor. I enquire from him if I could access to the sky bridge area and he told me that I need to have an access card. I told him that I am not a resident and he told me to just follow him since. What a lucky day to meet a helpful resident!
At the 50th floor, we accessed to the sky bridge through a turnstile and via card access. The wind was so strong at the 50th floor that I was worried that my hand phone would be blown away when I was using it to take photos of the surrounding view. The 50th floor is the highest floor of the building and standing at the sky bridge area, I could have a panoramic view of the surrounding city low grounds and even could see as far as the PSA terminals at the Tanjong Pagar port area.
The edge of the sky bridge is barricaded with metal railing and cordoned so that people with suicidal intent would not attempt to jump off the building from this height. There were some seats placed at the sky bridge lobby and the place looks conducive for having a barbeque or a beer session with visiting friends.
I took some photos of the panoramic view before I left the place. The kind resident tapped his card and let me out of the turnstile. It is nice up at the 50th floor sky bridge but nothing really spectacular except the panoramic view and that it was windy.
For any members of the public who want to have a view of the sky bridge, you probably need the assistance of the resident to let you have access into the sky bridge. Although there was a signboard that stated that you can use Ezlink card to pay for your access but I understand that Ezlink card reader is not working.
Pinnacle@Duxton appears different from other HDB blocks. The location is right in the city and the design blended well with the modern commercial buildings around it. The focus is the sky bridge but you have to know residents there to have access to the sky bridge.

As quoted from its website, "The 50th storey skybridge is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, except during special events."
"Visitor" is treated as public. "Residence" should have difference closing time.
Hope this can help!

Hi Kris, can I ask what time would be the best to enjoy this place? I planned to be up there at sunset but worry that they are out of the tourist cap (200 tourists/day, as I read on other source). Please advise, thanks.

Bad weather or a cloudy day offer also extremely dramatic vistas - sun breaking through the clouds, curtains of rain hiding parts of the scenes, waves rocking the ships on the sea etc. More positive aspects being the lack of other visitors and no sunburn.
