- Karenusher43 contributionsBusy but beautiful at ChristmasWe came at Christmas time, the light display on Orchard Road is beautiful, probably the best I have ever seen on a main street. Christmas Music is playing from the speakers, lots of little photo opportunities everywhere. Shops are expensive, everywhere is busy.Visited December 2022Written January 2, 2023

Didn’t feel like there was much else to see, but it’s possible we just missed that. Probably wouldn’t make this a stop if I go back, but it was fine for the first visit.Visited May 2023Written June 2, 2023

Orchard Road is a paradise for shopping and eating.
Almost all international brands are represented sometimes in multiple locations in Orchard.
Goods especially branded stuff in Singapore are generally cheaper than its neighboring countries. Furthermore, tourists can get a tax refund of 7% (actually 5% after deducting admin fee).
The shopping experience is one of vibrancy & colorful. It’s hassle free and scams are rare.
Worth a mention is the local food available in the food courts. Especially those in Takashimaya and Opera are really diversified and mouth watering good.
If shopping till you drop is your thing, Orchard Road must be on your map.

Here during the virus so I would sometimes take my "hour" of exercise in the form of a "powerwalk Orchard." When I was here in February, it was all about the shopping but this time, I saw all the amazing landmarks and realized the magic of the "old and new" coming together to make up this amazing city. Things to see...the Tang/Marriott (wow, history there), the Wheelock, the apple store, Robinson's department store, the Thai Embassy, and more! One day walking by hotel, a gentleman rushed out and gave me a bottle of water, just because I probably looked like I needed it. The people, the history, the lush tropical plants and blue skies, all merge to make Singapore, a must visit when you come to Southeast Asia! p.s. Did I say it was super clean and you can drink the water?

Bring the big bucks when you go to Orchard Road!! It mall after mall of high-end stores, there must be 3 Louis Vuitton stores within a block. During the holidays, it's light up at night and very active/festive. There is a competition in the city to see who has the best street lights.

We stayed in Orchard Road and it was just a mass of amazing shops and shopping malls. The malls were spectacular but many of the shops were at the top of the top end of the market and goods were quite expensive. However, if you just like looking and not necessarily buying, you could spend a whole day or more just wandering around.

The best place to shop for both the locals and the tourist. It is a long stretch of road lined with various shopping malls located just right next to each other so you can hop from malls to malls conveniently. There are lots of shopping options here , from upscale luxury brands to the more affordable local fashion. Highly recommend to visit Orchard road during December as the whole area will be decorated and lighted up for the festive season.

Paragon, Tangs, Takashimaya, a huge Apple store and lots of hotels. You will surely enjoy a good family time here. My favorite mall to go to is Takashimaya, it has toy stores, a kinokuniya book store and lots of cheap to mid range eateries. The basement is packed with souvenir shops from Godiva to Bak kwa and bakeries shops. There is a Sephora so ladies, orchard road is the place to shop till you drop!

Probably the #1 road that leads to high end retail shopping malls and eateries. An interesting area to view eyepopping window displays Malls and storefronts have contemporary art work. You don't have to shop till you drop. Many cafes and dessert places to grab a drink and rest awhile. No time limit to browse or shop, just take in the street scene.

This road seems to go on forever. There are numerous huge malls on both sides of the street. Whatever you are shopping for, you will find it here. Even if you have no desire to shop, walking along Orchard Road is an awesome experience of sights and sounds. Crossing the street usually requires using underground tunnel walkways which can be a bit confusing but getting lost is sometimes part of the fun of exploring a new city or area.

Orchard Road is huge and crammed with designer shopping malls and interesting architecture. Dior, Gucci, Tiffany, Cartier and dozens more, definitely the place to go for high end shopping. However if you look around there are some very interesting indoor shopping centres with dozens of cheap Chinese shops and great food halls with canteen style tables and delicious and inexpensive food.

Orchard Rd is an iconic street in Singapore and it has morphed into one of the best shopping strips. There are so many malls and centres to choose from and of course, all the high-end brands are there. That said, good old Lucky Plaza is still there catering to more budget conscious tastes in everything from clothing to tech goods. Some of the architecture along Orchard Rd is amazing too, and it is conveniently served by a couple of MRT stations.

Yes, as you can see from others, there are all sorts of places and for snacks, all the 7-11s are great. If you get down near the Rendevzous Hotel, just off of Orchard about a block is a grocery store, drug store, McDonalds. If your back is to the Rendezvous and you look up towards Orchard, they are to your right about a block. "Cold Storage" is the name of another grocery store on Orchard Road. Use your google maps and find the one closest to you. I miss Singapore so much. I was there 127 days. Hope you have a great trip!

A trip to Sentosa is a must, with plenty to do. We went on a night Safari to zoo but it was not worth it, the animals were asleep. Go to the Botanical Gardens, they are free, except for the Orchid Garden which was 1 singapore $ for us OAPs. Try the river boat trip from Clarke Quay to Marina Bay, cost us 36 S$ for 2. From there walk to Gardens by the Bay.
