- HeatSeekerWrexham, United Kingdom4,677 contributionsStunning, so much more than orchidsA must see attraction. As well as orchids there are plenty of gingers, carnivorous plants, bromeliads, and lots more. We really loved the new improved cool house. Amazing range of orchids. It does feel really cold as you get to the lower part. There are only very limited options to sit and rest in the cool house. Enjoy a quick visit and see lots of orchids, or linger for an hour and find lots more, including orchids with tiny flowers, a few as small as a grain of rice. Outside the cool house there are lots more orchids. We visited on a sunny morning, and it felt very hot. Cloudy days are best. The disabled will find reasonable access. It’s on a hillside so expect steep paths in places. Some paths have steps, but wheelchair routes are marked. There aren’t many places to sit and rest in the garden. You really must visit here while you’re in Singapore.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 23, 2023
- genibre69London, United Kingdom3,417 contributionsBeautiful place and worth a visitIncredible place to wander and take a zillion photos. Albeit pricey to enter if you’re not obsessed with orchids. That said I’m glad I forked over the S$15 bc the orchids really are beautiful to see. I went during the weekday so not very crowded.Visited March 2023Traveled soloWritten March 29, 2023
- Dol123North Wales, United Kingdom789 contributionsSpectacular Orchid displayAn incredible garden full of beautiful orchids, so many varieties on show. The garden was very well kept & the cool house was a calm cool space. I was overwhelmed with the elegance & colours of all the orchids. So pleased we visited & delighted that we received ‘senior’ rates ( all you need to do is show ID - we had our driver licences). All staff were friendly & helpful.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 31, 2023
- Sue H7 contributionsfabulous! This is a must for those visiting Singapore, especially if a gardener! Lush areas of plants and trees. Plus the National Orchid Collection. Always take an umbrella - just in case of rain as not many areas to shelter.Visited April 2023Written April 29, 2023
- CBS-CHSHouston, Texas308 contributionsBotanty at its Best!We don't normally make time for botanical gardens when visiting cities, but we are so glad we scheduled a stop at this mind-blowingly beautiful spot. Singapore is already like Disneyworld with its lush and manicured greenery everywhere, but even Mickey can't match the amazing varieties of orchids displayed so well in this stunning park. No matter that the temperature was soaring the day we went, we oohed and aahed our way around it for almost two hours, although we were especially thankful for the "cooling houses" which serve both the flowers and tourists. Just take a break from the busy cityscape and give yourself the gift of visiting this lovely oasis of calm and aesthetic perfection. Enjoy botany at its best, as we did.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 9, 2023
- WanderingRoosterSeattle, Washington224 contributionsStunning collection of plantsWe did this the same day we were at the botanical gardens. There is an entrance fee, but I think it is worth it. The Orchid Garden itself is quite large and full of unique plants and gardens. It was incredibly hot when we were there and I particularly appreciate the "cold house" collection!Visited May 2023Written May 20, 2023
- Sonja, HamburgMunich, Germany31 contributionsgreatest orchid park in the worldSimply great. You pay SDG 15 at the entrance, so buy your tickets before and online. It takes around 20-30 Minute from the main botany entrance to the orchid garden, which is simply great. I wondered because you see all orchids flowering, no weed inbetween and with one word greatest orchid park in the world. If you are not a orchid lover, you will be after visiting.Visited November 2022Written June 7, 2023

The National Orchid Garden is one of those amazing spots where you can lose yourself in the sublime - something so beautiful that it defies explanation or belief. The sheer volume of flowers and different varieties of flowers is staggering. Admission to the exhibit is only $5 and you can stay for as long as you like. I recommend heading up on to the VIP Orchid Garden and checking out some of the orchids that have been dedicated to particular personalities, like the Obamas and visiting leaders. It's a tranquil place to wander around and is easily accessible by taking the blue Downtown line on the MRT to Botanic Gardens.

Te national orchard garden is the cherry on the cake of the National Singapore Botanical Garden. There is a very modest entrance fee (SGD 1 for seniors), which must be the best value for money in Singapore. What you get in return is an orgy of colours and different orchid varieties - it is quite spectacular.

Well worth the schlep, the MRT or a Tax Ride to the entry- cost-free Botanical Gardens and pay the $5 extra to go into this self-contained garden. ($1 if yiu are 60 or over...lucky me!).
For a Brit, it is wonderful to see such exotic plants flourishing outside.

We are visiting from Maui, Hawaii. We love orchids, and loved the setting. Admission is affordably priced to allow access to all ($5 adult; $1 senior citizen). Beautiful photo opportunities are labeled "Photo spot". Good signage, and lovely adjacent location to National Botanic Garden, which is peaceful and serene. A cooler oasis in the city.

For me the Botanic Garden is World Class Best; however, the best part of it is the Orchid Garden. It does cost slightly more to visit, but when the rest of the garden is free, this is still worth the cost. The diversity of orchids is simply amazing, almost as incredible as the quantity of orchid's blooming. Singapore is that rare sweet spot in Botany were you can have world class quality with world class quantity. That is what is simply incredible here. You absolutely have to see the Botanic Gardens and while there you MUST SEE Orchid Garden. It is incredible and neither words or pictures will do it justice.

Located inside the National Botanical Garden (worth a good chunk of time itself), the beautiful National Orchid Garden is a spectacular exhibition of countless varieties of the flower. It is well laid out for strolling, the photo opportunities are endless, and there are plenty of explanatory signs. We covered it at a very leisurely pace in about an hour and a half. If you are doing the hop on-hop off bus of Singapore, the National Botanical Gardens are one stop on one of the routes, and the Orchid Garden is a short walk from the bus stop.

The Orchid Garden is a must-see experience at the Botanical Garden and costs a paltry $5/adult. The range and variety of orchids here are truly breathtaking. I don't have very much interest in flowers generally but was completely enthralled the whole time I was there.

We pre-purchased tickets ahead of time via Headout because it was slightly cheaper. We were also afraid tickets would sell out. It turned out we didn't even need to because the garden was not crowded. However, it was also raining that day but because we already booked the tickets, we had to go on that specific day/time slot. This also meant I couldn't use my student ID for a discount since those tickets need to be purchased in person.
We arrived on a Wednesday at around 3:40. The gardens are located inside Singapore Botanic Gardens. It is a bit of a walk so make sure you leave enough time to explore the botanic gardens as well. We spent about 45 minutes in the orchid garden. Even though it was raining, it was still beautiful - maybe even more so. It gave it a very tropical look/feel. The only thing annoying about that was just that we had to carry around our umbrellas the whole time, but there were still plenty of photo ops. Had it not been raining, we would probably would have spent a bit longer there because we did kind of rush through.
If beautiful gardens is your type of thing, you definitely need to check out the National Orchid Garden.

After arriving to the Botanic Garden MRT station it took us about 30 minutes to reach this place, but it's because we went very slowly taking pictures and enjoying the views.
The garden is not overly large, but it was very pretty and had a lot of orchid variety.
Recommend going on a cloudy day because the place is mostly outside and if it's too hot it may be hard.

Its gone up considerably since before the pandemic for visitors and is now $15 for entry.
Still very much worth it though in my opinion - the new Montaine area is stunning as a redevelopment.

The Orchid Garden is a year round attraction. Its continuously maintained to put the best flowers in the displays in the best condition. Time of year wont affect the trip timing but you will want to see if the gardens are blocked off in whole or in part for either renovations or for events that may affect the timings of a visit.

I am coming back in 2021, will the gardens still be as awesome or are there more things to add? We are coming in April so hopefully the weather will be perfect and so will the orchids and plumerias be in bloom?

Hello! The orchids were stunning when I was there in late March this year and the gardens were magnificent - I'm not sure what they'll be like in 2021 although Singapore sets such high standards, I'm sure you won't go wrong paying the gardens a visit! I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

what is the quickest way to get to the National orchard gardens singapore
cpremags
Singapore, Singapore17 contributions
"quickest way" - that's a tricky one, as not sure which way one would be coming from. This is the best I can do, in the circumstances:
By Train:
Alight at the Botanic Gardens Station which is about a 20-minute walk to the National Orchid Garden.
By Bus:
Tanglin Gate - Take bus number 7, 75, 77, 105, 106, 123, 174 and alight along Napier Road. The National Orchid Garden is about a 15-minute walk from the Garden's Tanglin Gate.
Bukit Timah Gate - Take bus number 48, 66, 67, 151, 153, 154, 156, 170, 171, 186 and alight along Bukit Timah Road. The National Orchid Garden is about 20-minute walk from the Garden's Bukit Timah Gate.
By Car/Taxi:
Nearest Parking is available at the Tyersall Gate Carpark at Tyersall Avenue and Nassim Gate Visitor Centre Carpark at Cluny Road. Note the Nassim Visitor Centre (Nassim Gate) is a 12 minute walk to the National Orchid Garden.
The nearest taxi drop-off point is at the Drop-off point at Learning Forest, Tyersall Gate entrance.
Hope it is useful, from all perspectives. Lovely orchids, hybrids included and VVIP ones too.

Hi, I am planning a visit with two kids.
Which of these gardens would you recommend for kids?
Cloud forest, Botanic, Gardens by the Bay or the Orchid Garden
and how much time should I reserve for these?
and what time of the day is best?
Kurrywurst
East Coast, Singapore
Living in Singapore , basically it´s always hot in Singapore, however, problem is more the high humidity. So first advice (if u allow me 2 do) from my side, don´t pack too much in the daily program. :-)
Having 3 kids by myself, can tell you that they found orchid garden pretty boring, instead of my wife.....so this is more for adults.
With kids would go to cloud forest, another traveller above describred perfect what u can do.
Garden by the bay is good, kids can run around (tell them to be carfull crossing the roads, they have to share with bicycle and e-scooter riders, which some are very fast and especially the escooter really silent. There are also special cafe bars and restaurants for kids, they will enjoy for sure.
There is also a huge foodcourt, were you can get BBQ all kinds of food. I like this prawns grilled with a cold beer.....fantastic!
Howver, why not instead of of all of this visit with your kids Sentosa Island? This is entertainment for the whole family. I am sure after this, you will be hero. Prebooking is recommended, because to line up in th emorning for tickets can spoil the whole day. You can get the tickets via internet, some hotels offer ticket service as well.
Don´t forget to book a DUCK Tour! This is a swimming bus, first u ride through Singapore, and then "jump" into Kallang river and drive like a boat sightseeing.....wise....very funny.
BTW: You can go to the sportshub as well, there ur kids can climb, iceskate, bowling........
If you have more questions....ask!
Hope I could help.

Yes you can. Taxis in singapore cam be a bit expensive. You can take public transport like the met (botanical gardens mrt) and even the bus. Only drawback is that if you travel on public transport you need to walk a lot. 😊
