Enjoyed this demo class. We covered 8 Thai dishes so the kitchen was full of action. Chef Samia, together with Chef Vivian and Chef Iskander, made it an engaging and very informative activity. The Chef explained the important points clearly, shared helpful tips with the ingredients and prepping (esp important with Thai dishes), and gamely answered our questions. You do have to pay close attention as 2-3 dishes would be going on simultaneously. Entire staff was accommodating!

Also fortunate to have this class at their new venue, CHIJMES. Very nice kitchen, clean, and spacious. Parking was also easy (at 10am).

Tip: If you're attending this class, bring small takeaway containers in case you don't get to finish your portion. A lot of food to taste with 8 dishes . . .

Highly recommended

Prior to a weeks vacation in Singapore I was able to book a half day cooking class at the Coriander Leaf Restaurant. Some flexibility is required if wanting to attend a specific food type as classes change according to the day. Fortunately the "Streets of Singapore" class was available on my spare Saturday morning.
The owner chef certainly knows her stuff, having worked in both England/USA and obviously has a passion for her craft. The classes are not " hands on" but you can easily see the food preparation/ cooking. The final enjoyment was the eating of the dishes, especially the Singapore Chilli Crab.

We attended the Thai 3 class. There were 8 in the class.

Great cooking class-recipes and pencils so I could note all the little tips Samia gave us.

We've come home and cooked 3 of the recipes - we'd have never got the red beef curry right if we hadn't been shown all the stages of cooking the paste properly first!

Thanks Samia. Good luck with the new venture. We'll be back when we've worked our way through your book!

i am sad to say i had a terrible experience after everyone has had such lovely reviews. samia had a different assistant today and was absolutely horrible and degrading to him the whole time - the angst made for a very unenjoyable environment. the food was great though.

Highly recommend. Streets of Singapore class excellent introduction to local cuisine. Samia's knowledge of food and respect for 'pure' ingredients a bonus. Demonstration Class enjoyable as all levels of cooks can absorb without distractions or feeling intimidated. This type of class allows you to learn more especially working in the Industry. The presentation and quality of produce fabulous. Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class and meal at Coriander Leaf. Samia was both entertaining and informative and the meals prepared were all great dishes to cook at home. I highly recommend this experience for those who love cooking!

While on our last trip to Singapore we decided to do a cooking class at the Coriander Leaf down on Clarke Quay. A little hard to find at first but once there all is forgotten.
We took the class with Samia Ahad (the owner) and Eddie Tay, and did the Singapore Classics. We were so glad we did, 7 recipes in all, plus a few hints, suggestions and new ideas and then enjoyed tasting our fare. There were 7 students in all which was a really good size, allowing us all to see and hear the recipes. They also have a screen over the cooktop so you can see exactly whats going on.
Just a little tip Samia also owns The Screening room on Ann Siang Road which is a rooftop bar, restaurant and movies. She has theme movie/food nights and it sounds amazing so do yourself a favour and head over.
No hesitation here in saying if its cooking your after, book the Coriander Leaf, not cheap, but you get what you pay for and this was worth every cent to us.

Fantastic cooking class with magnificent food!... The class is an observation class with snippets of taste testing as you go along but the final food presentation and platters that you get to devour at the end were worth the wait. The idea of watching instead of a 'hands on' approach means that you get to experience many more dishes in a more systematic way. Samia was a wonderful host and a fun chef. I don't think the experience would have been nearly as good if she was not in centre stage with her entertaining dry sense of humour. Have already booked to return!!!

I only had a couple of days in Singapore on this trip but the day I spent at the Coriander Leaf made this short holiday very special. Samia...a fantastic, generous chef. Eddy....sous chef extraordinaire, side kick to Samia, right hand man!!!! The coriander leaf kitchen has been perfectly designed for the purpose of instruction. You're given all the recipes in a small folder and there's room to add your own notes...and you will!!! Samia is great on the detail, so you'll be wanting to jot down her pearls of wisdom she shares. The food was amazing and inspiring and I can't wait to recreate the menu at home. A unique experience not to be missed in Singapore.

Twelve of us were divided into 3 teams. We were given a menu and ingredients and cooked/prepared the meal. The staff did a wonderful job of explaining what needed to be done and keeping the activity fun. At the end, the meal was delicious and everyone had a great time - including people that don’t know how to cook.
