A great alternative activity for singapore. Well kept nature reserve with water available at the ranger station. All the trails are extremely well marked out and clear to understand. The tree top walk was lovely. There are a lot of steps and more challenging parts...More

Great outdoor hike through a scenic forest. The treetop walk and suspension bridge gave a great view of both the park, ocean and city. Make sure to stay hydrated but a must do!!

My title basically applies to Singapore as a whole, but this area, in particular, can be quite humid as the lake/reservoir can evaporate a lot of water (and the trees generate a lot of humidity) especially towards the midday. We got here around 12:45 pm,...More

Not the easiest place to find for tourists - thence ots more locals that are in abundance when you get there. Good signposted trails range from 1-4 hours. Take plenty of water as once you start there are no places to buy. Also check the...More

If you're looking for a place to recharge in nature after a busy week, MacRitchie Reservoir trails don't disappoint. You find families, people trail running and slow trekkers all in one place. I got to (luckily) spot snakes, monkeys, millipedes, butterflies, birds etc. during my...More

I truly love these well maintained, plush green parks and reservoirs. I enjoyed a short run through the park, along with a recovery stroll. So peaceful, quiet, full of natural beauty.

I didn't see anywhere... Can you back up a bit? Will you be checking out of a hotel / hostel prior to MacRitchie? That would be the safest, easiest place, I'd think. Or getting off a cruise ship? Surely after paying for... More

Not really - whilst flat - its not the easiest place to get to from hotel areas of Singapore. Would recommend the botanical gardens and orchid gardens within.

It’s a suitable place for morning runs. Wonderfully peaceful and serene to jog or walk around the grounds. Always better in the morning or evening to avoid the scorching heat in this region.

Johor Bahru (7 Replies)
I have a free weekend in Singapore after a few days working there. I have been before many times, so have a good feel for most of the sights. Am planning a walk through MacRitchie Reservoir as I have't been there. Am wondering whether it's worth spending a day going to Johor Bahru ? It seems like a bit of a hassle to get there and cross the border etc and I don't like queues ! I can't see much there worth going for. I am not interested in shopping. Thoughts would be appreciated. ...More

I wouldn't bother going. There are plenty of interesting and unique places in Singapore you may not have explored, eg. Katong/Joo Chiat road/East Coast area, or Tiong Bahru, or get a Bumboat over to Pulau Ubin. Lots of things to and places you may not have visited in here- https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g29426…

Taxis in Singapore. (4 Replies)
Hello All, I know that Taxis are easy to flag down in commercial areas (Orchard Rd.) On the other hand, lets say that I visit the nature walk at MacRitchie Reservoir or somewhere isolated. How can I hail a cab once I am done? Do I need to walk to a main road to flag a taxi? Cheers!

Hail one whereever you see one, they will be constantly dropping people off at most of the places you would want to visit. If you cant find one easily you can always phone for one to pick you up.

MacRitchie Reservoir- best time of day to visit (5 Replies)
Can anyone suggest the best time of day to visit and the best place to see the monkeys? Thanks

Early morning before 10am. The monkeys are everywhere really. Pls keep a safe distance from the monkeys, especially those with young as they can get protective.. Avoid eye contact. Do not offer food. Unfortunately, people have tried to feed them so they can be drawn to you if you have food in sight or hold plastic carriers.
