An oasis situated in the heart of the city
Beautiful colonial architecture here. One of the few great buildings left like this design. There is a high-end selection of boutique stores to check out. Way too expensive for my tastes but I am glad to have experienced this oasis in the heart of the city.

    Got visit while in Singapore
My wife was keen to sample the original Singapore Sling cocktail. You certainly pay for the experience at $38 each. However my wife certainly had no problem enjoying & savouring it. We chose to sit outside at Raffles Terrace as the queue for The Long Bar was quite a wait and no problem being shown to a table straight away outside. Service was great and given a large bowl of monkey nuts to enjoy also. Definitely worth an explore of the hotel to take in the splendor.

    Grandeur of Singapore
Experienced afternoon tea at Raffles Hotel which is a must. The grandeur and spender and decadence of the hotel was amazing. The tea arrived with a choice of specialty teas with your array of sandwiches, cakes and scones all of which was impeccable. So impressive.

Everything about the hotel was perfect. The suite was beautiful and in keeping with the hotels era. The butler service was very good, the staff through out the hotel were attentive, friendly, polite and helpful. The bed comfortable, a pillow menu allowing for a change if desired. An elegant bathroom. Comfortable chairs and a table on the balcony to look at the garden, was very peaceful. Breakfast in the Tiffin Room was extensive and encompassing both eastern and western food, served promptly in lovely surroundings. Altogether a perfect stay for our 50th wedding anniversary. All the little extras to help us celebrate were much appreciated. The pool area was also a popular spot with us, reminiscent of a by gone era.

Popped into the Raffles shop after walking around the hotel. Expected it to be silly prices but most things see very reasonable. Good selection of postcards and posters relating to the hotel. Downside was they only sold postcards with stamps already affixed.

We queued for about 15 minutes to get into the Long Bar for a Singapore Sling. It was so good we had two. Not a cheap option at 37 Singapore dollars plus service charge and some other charge, but it was worth it. Each table has a sack cloth bag of peanuts which you are encouraged to shell and enjoy with your SS throwing the shells on the floor .... only place in Singapore you can legally litter! Would we go back .....most definitely!!!!

Having a short time in Singapore one place we had to vist was Raffles hotel. We went in the morning, yes it is an iconic hotel but if you are not a guest there you can only drink in the bar adjoning next door which I thought was little strange. I was approached by an official of the hotel and after saying I would like to take some photos inside I was pleasantly suprised to be told " please you are welcom" but still no drink inside .....

We had 2 days in Singapore on the way home from Australia so did what lots of other people do and went to Raffles Hotel. The Hotel itself is quite pretty and we enjoyed a stroll round, before stopping in the Courtyard Bar for a lime juice and a Singapore Sling. It was pricey but that was expected, but we were very surprised to have to wait 30 minutes to be served (even though my husband went to the bar to check it was table service) and then only got served because my husband asked the waiter as he cleared another table nearby. When we told our friend who collected us from the Airport he said he had exactly the same experience 5 years ago. Clearly they will keep getting tourists visiting to say 'I had a Singapore sling at Raffles' but it would be nice if the service improved.

Raffles Hotel is situated in the center of Singapore, adjacent to shops and business offices.

It is some distance from the main shopping area on Orchard Road.

There's a nearby underground railwat station and many cabs, so it's easy to get there.

The Hotel is an interesting place to visit, to enter another world of relaxed "colonial" style refinement and comfort.

There's several shops within the Hotel Arcade, including one where you can buy Raffles souvenirs and memorabilia- such as Singapore Sling mix!

While you're here, you could enjoy a meal, or go upstairs to the Long Bar, for a refreshing Singapore Sling in the unique atmosphere of the bar. Really, this is a "tourist trap"; most of the patrons appear to be tourists having the obligatory Singapore Sling and peanuts (you shell the complimentary peanuts and drop the shells on the floor).

Nonetheless, it's a fun thing to do, and not super expensive!

We visited, like many tourists and travellers The Raffles Hotel. Iconic yes, Beautiful yes.
Afternoon tea, the read up in the paper prior to leaving indicated that this tradition had been re-introduced so we were looking forward to an expensive but luxurious afternoon tea!
We got, Atea bag in a tea cup ,plastic milk, and a cake on a plate served in a very basic cafe with marble top tables, no fine afternoon tea here. Just bog standard cafe. And not cheap.

This is a sterile property. Hardly any guests. No warmth. Obnoxious staff. Would not recommend this hotel. Renovations not worth it-no big deal. A disappointment. Starting with the men in the lobby who seem to shoo people away and stare at you wondering why you are in the lobby. Not a friendly place.
