    Walking in the rain
The Happy Wanderer song has always inspired me, and I love wandering around with a knapsack on my back exploring new destinations. This time I wandered my way from Queenstown to Sentosa. Ascended a flight of stairs to Telok Blangah Hill Park, Henderson Waves and down Marang Trail from Mount Faber Park. My step tracker clocked twenty thousand steps when I reached Vivo City. I took a rest at the harbor front library while browsing some of the books. Then, it started to rain, and the harbor front view suddenly turned misty. When the rain stopped about an hour later, I decided to continue my journey to Sentosa. I took the board walk and found my way to Imbiah Station once I reached the island and took the monorail to Beach Station. I thought of a beach walk from Palawan Beach to Siloso Beach, but it was raining cats and dogs when I reached Beach Station. The last time I came to Palawan Beach was few years back when I led a group of senior citizens for a brisk walk along the beach. It was then on a beautiful sunny weekend and the view was mesmerizing. The sparkling turquoise seawater simmered under the hot sun against the contrasting background of the white sandy beach and the wavering coconut trees and suspension bridge. Today, the rain dampened the party spirit, and the view was disappointing dull. But the foreign domestic workers continued their happy gathering under the towers enjoying their food and singing their karaoke. I am really amazed by the crowd at Vivo City and Sentosa. But I preferred to be `Far from the Madding Crowd' and preferred the serenity and tranquility at the quieter Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park.

    Nice island beach
The highlight of this beach is the island. Very beautiful, lovely water, lovely swimming spot. A bit crowded, but ok. Some beach clubs nearby so a bit noisy as well. Well worth a visit though

If you're already in Sentosa, see it. Don't go there to swim.
If you're in Sentosa otherwise, it is worth dropping by. You can go to "the southernmost point in continental Asia" and climb up for a panoramic view. There is also a lovely, distinctive wood sculpture on the beach. However, the water was disgusting looking when I was there. Indeed, swimming was banned during my time in Sentosa.

Gateway to the "Southernmost Point of Continental Asia"
I visited Sentosa, and in particular Palawan Beach, in order to say I was in the "Southernmost Point of Continental Asia". You will see this sign as you cross from the beach to the "Big Bridge", and the "Big Bridge" to Palawan Island. Now, forget for a second that Singapore is technically an island that is only connected to Malaysia by bridges... And therefore is not really part of "continental" Asia... And just enjoy this quirky fabrication and congratulate yourself for making it here. I sure did. On the beach itself, bask in the sunlight and dip your toes in the Singapore Strait. Keep in mind there are resorts directly facing the beach, which may occasionally feel unsettling as countless rich tourists stare and judge you for swimming in dirty ocean water from the comfort of their temperature-controlled pools. I did notice that the beach did not have much in terms of shade. For that reason I'd suggest packing some sunscreen, a hat, and some water.

    Going back for sure
Palawan Beach, often considered one of the quieter, more serene spots in the region, offers a unique and unspoiled experience for travelers looking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature. Whether you're visiting for a day trip or a longer stay, this beach is an idyllic retreat that showcases Palawan’s natural beauty at its finest. The soft, white sand stretches along the shoreline, creating the perfect setting for long walks or relaxing sunbathing sessions. The crystal-clear waters invite you for a refreshing swim or peaceful snorkeling, with abundant marine life just beneath the surface. What makes Palawan Beach particularly special is its tranquility—there's a sense of seclusion that makes it feel like your very own private paradise, yet it’s still accessible enough to enjoy without the overwhelming tourist presence found in more well-known spots.

    Nice restful beach day.
After a few days sightseeing in Singapore we decided to have a day at the beach. We chose Palawan as it’s the quietest beach area on Sentosa. There really isn’t much beach and the water quality is variable. We chose not to swim as I wasn’t convinced of the waters cleanliness. We paid for a double beachfront sun-bed at Coastes beach club. This was a good move. The bed was comfy and the bar and food service was good and for Singapore it was reasonably priced too. It was a nice restful break from the busyness of Singapore during g Chinese New Year. It wouldn’t work for us as a holiday stay but was a lovely day’s break.

We went to Sentosa for a day and passed by the beaches and cafes. It is very nice and calm and there are no waves. They have a zip cord and bunji jump facility which is $150SG per person in this area. They have a free shuttle bus to take you from one end to the other as it gets quite hot walking.

You can have a great day relaxing at the beach. We still enjoy going there, and the sea is lovely and reasonably calm. Do avoid low spring tide, when the water is muddy.
However we have seen several changes since our visit in March 2019, and none have made the beach better.
Want something to eat? Apart from FOC at the end furthest from Beach Station, there are no other options.
Want a convenience store? The one at Palawan has closed, so has the one at Beach station. The nearest are Siloso Point, and Imbiah (under the Sentosa Express station). Not very convenient. We bought snacks from Show Bites, but rather a limited range.
Want a locker? New ones have been installed all over Sentosa. They are difficult to use. First you must have a Singapore, Malaysian or Indonesian phone No! Next you have to enter a password and verify it, at that point my wife couldn’t get it to work, and gave up. I think they then must send something to your phone, but they won’t tell you how it works until you laboriously reach each stage. They’re the most complicated lockers we’ve ever seen.
There’s a large building site at the Beach Station end of the beach. All work has been stopped (possibly a result of the covid virus). At least it’s quiet, and not much of an eyesore, but it does nothing for the beach.
Finally there’s Hydro dash, will it ever open?
At least the peace has brought out more animals, we’ve seen an otter, and a monitor lizard, plus hornbills and cockatoos. Sadly the peacocks have all vanished.
It’s great for families, with a lifeguard watching over everyone. Toilets and showers are very clean, and free.
The disabled will enjoy the step free access to the beach, and the calm water at the sheltered ends.
Despite all the problems, we do like the beach. It’s very quiet (no noisy bar music). The sand is clean and soft. Look over the hoardings and there’s lovely landscaping. And the water is lovely and warm, so you can have a relaxing time at the beach. It’s back to how it was in the early 1990s, without all the modern facilities like shops and restaurants!

visited the beach on a weekday morning to find fences, scanning point and rope squares for each group of no more than 5 (some weren’t...). beach was clean, water a decent opaque green (normal for Singapore), and the lifeguards were keeping an eye on things as we heard them yelling at people to not climb on the rocks 100m away. Nice view of the offshore ships in Singapore anchorage (>30 in sight), but no oil and debris, and by coincidence a lot of Air Force planes and helicopters flying up and down too.

A few years ago I came here to Palawan Beach and the water and beach were clean. This time, the sand is full of rubbish, the water also full of rubbish - there was a toothbrush, bits of paper, wrappers, plastic and much more. They then cleared everyone out of the water well before dark but then proceeded to turn off the water to the showers right next to the beach so there was a walk and then a long queue to use the toilet facilities to shower and change as they kicked everyone out at the same time! The shuttle bus was always packed so bus after bus went by without being able to get on it as there was no room. This is not the same place as I remember. Singapore is known for cleanliness and I don’t know why they have let Palawan Beach deteriorate so much.

Atrocious. The water is shallow and murky. Noisy groups of people everywhere.

The entire island of Sentosa is optimized to sell a poor experience with a premium.

If you took the cable car, you will feel like cattle moved into a tourist trap.

If you planned for a relaxing innocent day at the beach don’t come here.
This place has as much vibe as a McDonalds.

My friend went swimming in the water for five minutes and saw what appeared to be a box jelly fish. She was stung by it and felt very sick after. She still has a bad rash from it. We looked it up and it appears to be common. We didn’t see any signs warning people. We saw children in the water who should probably be warned.

This looks like a lovely place to sit and relax. Many people were swimming in the water when we went in June. This is where the rope bridge connects to supposedly the most southern point of continental Asia. It was a very lovely place to visit.

Visited this beach to have a rest in the sun and a little swim. We traveled across on the train and got the little train along the coastline from the station. The area we found very Americanized as I suppose it is because of the attractions there, how
ever we were surprised to what extent.

It's hard to get too excited about the murky water at Singapore's beaches. The imported sand makes it better than just mud, and the regular cleaning of the beach helps, but it's not the same as going to a proper beach. Still, when you're stuck with travel restrictions it's important to make the most of the situation and Palawan beach is an ok choice. Just need to go early to avoid the crowds.
