3 hours drive from Cebu City. When you reach the docking area you will check-in and they will give you an orientation - protocols, but no room keys yet. 10 minutes boat trip to the island. No fancy greetings, you have to walk all the way to their other check-in counter, where keys will be given when available. Note: NOT a good place for elderly or PWD, lots of walking and stairs climbing. They have a golf cart that runs only up to 4pm, after that you have to walk from sand bar back to your room, a good 10 minute walk. They do not provide maps, so you have to navigate by yourself. The lagoon was pretty, but no one was on standby to help us there.
Food was ok, during breakfast limited choices, no cereals for kids.

Rooms are big but television and telephone is not working.

The island is beautiful, serene but they can improve more on their service and amenities.

Good day, I would like to ask if there is a hotel nearby Tan-awan Oslob Cebu, accomodating for boat rent in going to Sumilon island? How much is the boat rent if there is?

I did this trip as I arrived too late to join a whale shark trip so had an afternoon to kill, plus, I'd seen the island while traveling to Oslob and thought it might be an interesting place to visit for snorkelling. The guy I spoke to also told me the snorkelling was fantastic and I might even see a resident whale shark! On arrival it became apparent that is was just an overpriced boat ride to a strip of shadeless sand. I asked a lifeguard about snorkelling, he pointed out the marine sanctuary surrounded by white buoys. He said there could be current, but it was a sheltered area and there were many dive boats around so I felt safe venturing out. 50 meters out I hear whistles being blown and realise they are aimed at me so I swim back in... I'm told by another 'lifeguard' that I can't swim there and there is a 2500 peso fine if I go past the buoys into the marine park (where the other guy had told me to go) Eventually, I got out to snorkel (outside the park!) And it was pretty good, but after that, all there was to do was sit on a sand bar... If you are happy with that then do it...but for me, it was the first time after a month in the Philippines that I got angry...which is hard to do as generally the people are lovely.

We went to Sumilon as an afterthought, after swimming with the whale sharks. The sandbar is very pleasant, but lacks shade, or much to do. You can't go anywhere else on the island unless you're staying at Sumilon Bluewater Resort, so you're limited to a bit of snorkelling, paddling and lying around. You can kill an hour or two, but there are better sights to see in Oslob.

Going to Sumilon Island is one exciting activity you shouldn’t miss specially when you are in Oslob already. The sand bar of the island isn’t that long but big enough to enjoy and splurge playing in the very fine and powder like white sand. Just be careful though and always watch your kids closely when they plunge into the waters because it is deep and has small waves.

Paid 1500 pesos for two persons to go to the island with a boat provided by Bluewater Resort at the Island.
We where told there was a beautiful beach and a good coral reef.
Yes the beach is beautiful, but packed with people mainly Asians girls taking photos for their social media accounts.

The reef is dead and bleeded and a very small amout of fish. You are not allowed to discover anything and the lifeguards will whistle after you if you get 50m away from the beach. Maybe the reef is better further out, I will never know.

Please notice that you're ONLY allowed on the beach and can't go anywhere else. There is guards there who will tell you.

So many told us about this island, but it didn't live up to our expectations. For 1500 pesos you can do so much more in Cebu!

Everyday in the morning about 1000 chinese tourist decide together it's a great time to visit the same small beach. This happens every day. And every day the small boat owners happily oblige. And it's a disaster. And it's always done around 1pm.

Everything is fine, photos are amazing which you take there, also water is cool if you go a bit further, beaches are clean and golden sands and also you can move a bit up and take photo of the main part of the island.
The disadvantages are: no choice of food around, the area is too small and too crowded, as well as the water near the beach is dirty.
