As part of a Bohol tour we took in the Butterfly Conservation Centre. The guide spoke perfect English and was very informative explaining the difference between Butterflies and Moths. An number of mounted ones to view before entering the main netted off area. There were several species of butterfly available and as it was hot they were all flying about. Made it difficult to get a decent picture. In the centre about half an hour, if you are passing pop in but not worth a trip out to see on its own.

It is my first time to visit a butterfly sanctuary. Although it is not as grand as I expect it to be ( area is small and butterflies on captivity are not as plenty as I envision), the experience was a pleasant one.

Also, the staff assisting the visitors are well informed and very entertaining. Much of my happy thoughts are to be credited to the staff/tour guide assigned to us.

Note: Staff/Guides know certain camera tricks. Ask for assistance if you want to have a nice photo souvenir at the butterfly sanctuary. :)

This place was not included in our Bohol tourristic package (from Amorita Resort) but since we had extra time to spare, our tour guide suggested this place. It was my first time to visit a butterfly sanctuary. The place was small and there's not that much butterflies when we went but it was all worth it because of their jolly and very funny tour guides. Our tour guide was very good in telling funny jokes about their exhibit. Aside from explaining well about the species on display (they also have some preserved insects and butterflies), they also take cute photos of you with nice concepts.
You will not be bored as the staff will make sure that you are lauging the whole time with them.

I last visited in October 2011.

It should have been my 4th time. The very first time I was taken to the butterfly sanctuary, I waited outside. I thought I would have no interest what so ever in looking at a few butterflies flying around. Then the others who did go in, came out and showed me their photos and told me what it was like. So I thought, next time.. I will go inside and check it out for myself.

The butterfly sanctuary should be part of the standard itinerary for all tour operators. Unfortunately it is not and you may have to specially request to be taken there.

On my first visit to Bohol in 2004, I checked the menu for a floating restaurant and found nothing I wanted to eat. So I sought lunch elsewhere. I have now done 7 tours of Bohol and eaten elsewhere each time. The last 3 tours of Bohol, I have eaten at the butterfly sanctuary. For my Bohol tours, I now drive straight to the Chocolate hills then do all the other attractions on the way back to Tagbilaran. So, with a 10am tour start time, the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center is conveniently located for lunch time for me.

Here are my observations
- The whole place is in a garden setting.
- At the entrance, they charge you P30 to go in.
- They have toilets on site
- There is a ramp for those in a wheel chair. The whole site is reasonably wheel chair friendly too.
- They explain the life cycle of butterflies and moths using pictures, dolls, real larvae and real butterflies.
- They then take you into a huge cage where you will see butterflies flying around. They may sit real butterflies on you in the cage.
- At the end, they will help to take pictures of you that make it seem that you have butterfly wings. They do this by photographing you through a glass window with a large butterfly in it.

If you are going to have lunch there, make sure you order your meals before you start your tour, then the meals will be ready to serve when you finish. May last three meals there have cost about P1000 for our group. Last tour in October 2011, it cost P1060 for 7 of us.

This butterfly center is small compared to other butterfly centers I have visited outside of the Philippines. And I enjoyed my visit as much as I did at the larger butterfly places because I like nature. The butterflies are beautiful and the flowering plants are gorgeous and diverse. I was so pleased to see the glass butterfly and the tiger butterflies. I cannot name all the butterflies we saw, but they are all beautiful and seem to be well cared for. The garden is pleasing and in bloom. The Red Ginger Lily is exquisite. Another white Ginger Flower looks elegant. The trees are also awesome and well-tended. The guide we had was witty and gave interesting information. If this is just a job for him, then he must be a conscientious worker and a very loyal and proud native of Bohol, at the very least. Thumbs up to all the staff members and I hope they continue extend efforts to educate the locals and their visitors.

Visited this place yesterday as part of a day tour in bohol. To be honest, when we first got there, we didn't expect much from it but to our surprise it was pretty good! Our tour guide Levie made the entire experience even more better! He was very funny, witty, a great photographer and knows what he's talking about (butterflies, etc). We we're laughing non stop during the entire tour inside the butterfly sanctuary. We also got amazing couple photos all thanks to him! Definitely a must go!

The place is very charming with its clean premises and sculptured gardens. The main attraction was the collection of butterflies, and it was exciting having so many butterflies fluttering around within reach. We did not get a guide, but friendly tourists happily offered us the chance to coerce the butterflies from their fingers onto ours - and it was not difficult at all. Great experience for little kids.

This place is a small butterfly center. The guides are nice and very informative. They can answer most of our questions and they are very friendly and accommodating. The main exhibit area is a small place but since tourist come and go, the small place is adequate. After the educational tour of butterflies and cocooons and everything, you get to interact and touch and play with them outside. Visit early in the morning when the butterflies are most active.
