Its the Chinatown of Yogyakarta. If you visit during Imlek/Chinese New Year, you'll find the cultural week event. Located in the middle Malioboro street, close to several interest point : Beringhardjo Market, Malioboro Street, Vredeburg Fort, Kraton, Taman Pintar, etc

it is located off Jalan malioboro. You will find a lot of chinese shop in this street. It will become very lively during the chinese New Year. It is the china town of jogja.

This gate is a prove if there is a strong Chinese Community in Yogyakarta City. They came to the city around 200 years ago for business.
Yogyakarta is a city that respect history. The government is allowed to give the Indonesian Tionghoa to preserve the tradition in this Kampung.
